"Nice haul," Damon muttered, licking the last drop of blood from his finger. Once again, there was another staircase, and they went deeper down into the next layer of the dungeon.
This time, no traps or tricks were waiting for them. It was just straight-up monster mash. Numerous scorpions with glistening black carapaces scuttled out from every crevice, their stingers twitching with unnatural speed.
Each one was the size of a large dog, but that wasn’t the worst part—their bodies shimmered with a faint greenish purple glow, indicating their poisonous nature.
However, these things were no match for the blademaster. Kaelthorn was already in the middle of the swarm, cleaving through scorpions like a farmer harvesting wheat.
After the scorpions, the next were the wasps.
And then there were centipedes, ants, but with a twist of poison. All sorts of venomous creatures slithered one after the other as the three of them continued to go through several floors of the dungeon.
"I have never seen a dungeon like this." Even Kaelthorn was impressed. "This has to be the longest dungeon I have come across in my life." The guy chuckled.
"Hmmm." Damon did not say anything. He remained silent with a small smile on his face. He still did not bother fighting and just collected all the blood he could get his hands on.
Though every single creature in the dungeon was seemingly ordinary, their venoms were frighteningly powerful. Even a casual touch of a dead creature’s exploded insides could be extremely fatal.
The three of them continued to go through the dungeon and eventually reached the twenty-fifth floor of the dungeon. On this floor, a horde of beasts waited for them, basically a mix of everything they had come across on the upper floors.
Kaelthorn still didn’t have any problem dealing with the bugs and monsters, but occasionally one or two slipped past him, which Damon was more than capable of handling himself.
"Ooops. That’s my bad, little lord."
Damon chuckled lightly. "It’s okay. You are doing a great job. Continue working hard like this."
Kaelthorn smirked, and slowly, more and more beasts started slipping through the cracks. At a certain point, Damon was panting and wheezing as his current weak condition made him extremely exhausted, and his blood supply was also being overused.
"Little lord, hold on. I am coming to you soon." Kaelthorn let out a loud, maniacal laughter in the midst of the slaughter, clearly not concerned about anything. He was well aware of Damon’s critical condition, and yet he continued to allow more and more beasts slip past him.
"I am really impressed with your fighting abilities, my lord. Even in your pitiful state." He laughed again, enjoying how Damon was torturing himself to barely keep up.
An inexplicable smirk appeared on the man’s face as he finally let a dozen spiders charge at Damon as once, all of them level 60 and mutated.
Damon walked forward without another glance at Kaelthorn. "Next time, if you want to test me... make sure you’re ready for the result."
A vicious glint appeared on Kaelthorn’s face which quickly disappeared. He silently followed after Damon and the old man, the snake leading the charge this time around. However, even though he was outrightly bitch-slapped on the face, Kaelthorn did not seem to mind at all.
There was only viciousness and anticipation in his eyes as he licked his lips, walking onto the last layer of the dungeon.
Elina and Damon stopped in their tracks, completely shocked by what laid ahead of them. This one was completely different from all the other floors.
In front of them, there was bubbling and sizzling lava like liquid, except it was green in color and clearly poisonous. The liquid was sloshing about and it was everywhere.
Pillars of stone jutted from the toxic lake like skeletal fingers, each one covered in runes that pulsed faintly with sickly green light.
Suspended above the poison were narrow pathways, some broken, some swaying, forming a maze that snaked toward a wide platform at the heart of the cavern.
On the central platform, there was a temple or sorts, a jagged structure forged from dark obsidian and laced with veins of glowing viridian poison. The green liquid around it never touched its stone foundations. Instead, it parted at the base like worshippers bowing before their god.
