"Shit..." Damon muttered under his breath. He had only slain one earlier, but this... this was the entire flock! Every demonic crow in this entire zone was probably right here!
Each crow was the size of a horse, their talons glowing with strong wind essence. They cawed in unison, the sheer cacophony cutting through bone and setting his teeth on edge.
Even Erin looked uncertain. "My Lord... there are dozens. No... hundreds," she hissed. "All of them are at least level 100! Some of them are even level 150!"
Damon’s crimson aura flickered like wildfire around him. However, he was pretty calm, watching the scene. If one observed closely, there was even a hint of greed and excitement in his eyes.
The night sky split open with thunderous caws as the storm of crow demons descended, blotting out the stars until it seemed the entire world above was made of wings and teeth. Each flap of their feathers stirred the wind into knives, shredding trees at the forest’s edge.
They were like a tornado taking down everything in their path. The entire land was laid to waste, demonstrating the sheer power they were capable of.
The air itself howled with the storm of wings. Black feathers rained like cursed snow, cutting the night into jagged streaks of wind. Entire swathes of the forest buckled under the force, trees uprooted, stone split, the shoreline carved apart as though a thousand blades had fallen at once.
The merfolk watched from below the crimson waves, their glowing eyes peering out with fear, panic, and dread filling them. They had seen the Shorebreaker’s fall, but this was something else.
An army, a plague of death descending all at once! This was their end! This was their judgment!
There was no way they would ever be able to survive something like this. It did not matter that this stranger was standing with them. Nothing mattered right now. They were simply doomed.
Fear gripped them, and all of them had no doubt what was coming for them. This was the end of days, an unstoppable calamity that would scour the coast clean of life!
Damon, on the other hand, was still pretty calm. The tornado of death and destruction was coming right for them, but he was still standing at the same spot.
When the crows were near enough that the wind itself began to peel the ground apart, Damon finally moved.
"Move! Don’t freeze in fear! I am still here with you. I will protect you from this enemy and make sure that all of you survive, but you also have to protect yourself!" His voice thundered.
The merfolk flinched, then stilled, their glowing eyes snapping to him.
"Water shields!" Damon roared, crimson light flaring from his eyes. "Now! Everyone! Together as one! This is your home! Defend it with everything you have!"
His words struck them like lightning, and in a rush, dozens of hands lifted, tridents gleaming, scales flashing as the lagoon erupted with magic.
The surface of the crimson water boiled and surged upward, forming a dome of gleaming barriers. Sheets of liquid crystal locked together in overlapping layers like scales of a colossal sea-dragon forged from their collective will.
Above, the crows screamed their defiance. The air warped under their descent, blades of wind shrieking down like guillotines. The storm crashed into the shields, detonating in a spray of foam and shattered magic.
The merfolk staggered, many driven to their knees, but the barrier held. Cracks laced through the watery shell, shimmering with strain, but they were holding on steadily.
