Horam’s body trembled as he struggled to breathe, his eyes darting in panic. Who was Horam? A member of the Poison Sigil!
Their order was the most powerful and feared among all the orders because of their deadly poisons. Their order was infamous throughout the entire Great Western Desert and even the land beyond that.
Anyone who heard that name would tremble in fear!
But now...
Damon’s grip tightened ever so slightly, just enough to make Horam’s bones creak. "If you don’t talk," he whispered, voice low and icy, "you’ll find that death isn’t nearly as quick as you’re hoping for."
Those are my lines, damn it! Horam screamed inwardly. "You... want... the others?" He rasped. "Fine, I will call everybody here! The entire order will be here within a minute!" His eyes shone with righteous fury as if Damon had wronged him gravely.
"You... you have no idea what you’ve done!" he wheezed. "You think killing me will end this? Once they know a foreign bloodsucker trespassed on the Dune of Graves-"
"Let me stop you right there." Damon smiled. "I am not planning to kill you. Just looking for a way to join your order? What do you guys think about a newcomer like me?"
Horam froze mid-sentence, his mouth hanging open. For a few seconds, he simply blinked at Damon, unable to tell whether the vampire was being serious or mocking him. "W-What?" he croaked. "Join? Join?!"
His mind couldn’t even process it. No one asked to join the Venom Sigil like this. Their members were mostly recruited or trained from a very young age.
Horam gaped at him like he’d gone mad. "You... think you can just join the Venom Sigil?! We’re not a tavern guild, you lunatic! We-"
"Are poisoning yourselves in circles while playing with sand," Damon interrupted. "I can also do that. What is the big deal?"
Horam swallowed hard. Every instinct told him this bloodsucker wasn’t bluffing. "You.. You’re insane," he muttered, stepping back slowly. "Even if... even if you could reach our Sanctum, the High Venomist would..."
Damon cut him off again, smirking as the miasma coiled tighter around his frame like a royal mantle. "Then lead the way," he said, his voice smooth and commanding. "Let’s see if your High Venomist can resist a little... persuasion." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Horam stared into those crimson eyes and, for the first time in his life, the master of poisons felt the icy weight of helplessness. He did not speak anymore and silently took Damon down the spiraling staircase and into their base.
"Leave the door open." Damon smiled, and Horam only looked at him blankly in response. For some reason, the words didn’t surprise him at all. "Sure, why not?" The poison master dully nodded and complied. What else was he supposed to do when someone dared to come into their base and order them around like this?
