At the same time, inside the Earth Online world, a similar pair of black eyes flashed open inside the Abyssal zone. A woman’s figure emerged from the shadows. She conjured a mirror of sorts from the shadows, which displayed her immaculately beautiful yet sinisterous face.
In a second, the image distorted and the mirror rippled like liquid midnight. This time, another reflection stared back. It was still the same face, but it was not the woman’s. Those galaxy-white irises, that abyss-black sclera, that predatory calm. It was Umbraelith.
Umbraelith’s image flickered inside the conjured glass. The real woman, hidden deep in the Abyssal Zone, clicked her tongue.
"Tch. Umbraelith... you devious little cunt..." Her voice was a low snarl, elegant and venomous all at once. "How did you sniff me out so fast?" Her own eyes, black as collapsing voids, narrowed in irritation.
Her hair spilled down her back in strands of abyss black, and her entire being was surrounded by the unmistakable aura of shadow. In fact, the two women looked extremely similar and could even be mistaken for the same person if it were not for the difference in their power levels.
"Always watching," she muttered. "Always scavenging for scraps Father left behind. Why can’t you simply leave that old man be? Can’t he rest in peace?"
Umbraelith’s phantom smirk curved in the mirror. The real woman, Umbra’s other daughter, bared her teeth in a smile that never reached her eyes.
"Don’t get cocky. If I were at full strength... hmph... It’s fine. So what if you already found me? It doesn’t matter. You will never be able to reach me past the system’s barriers. And even if you do, it will already be too late. I will make sure of it."
The next second, the mirror broke and shattered into shadow shards that disappeared into her aura.
"Tsk. Pathetic," she muttered to herself. "I let one little war with you drag on too long. It’s time to end this thing once and for all, my dear sister." She threw her head back and laughed wildly. "Two versions of the same lineage. Two monsters carved from the same god. Two inevitabilities on a collision course. Let’s see who wins this time!"
"The Goddess who ascended or the fallen heir?!"
"Daddy’s perfect little princess or the lost daughter, the one he abandoned?!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Umbraelith or Umbraessia?"
The abyss itself seemed to stiffen, the darkness shivering. "Don’t worry, Sister. I’ll make this fun." She stretched out her arm, and the abyss responded.
Shadow currents roared upward, spiraling around her like a hurricane of ink. Shadow beasts, behemoths with ribcage mouths and triple-layered eyes, fell into prostration, trembling under her aura.
Even half-broken, she controlled the Abyssal Zone like a sovereign. "Umbraelith..." she murmured, almost tenderly. "You’re still chasing Father’s corpse like a starving dog chasing a dry bone. Always the good girl. Always seeking his approval." Her smile sharpened. "Meanwhile, I found something better."
Her gaze drifted, piercing the thick layers of dimensional fog, to the parasite pool far away, where Damon was currently bathing in shadow worms like he was at a spa and not inside the literal resurrection engine of a god.
The woman inhaled, tasting the threads of stolen shadow essence in the air. "...So it’s him." A slow, amused hum rumbled in her chest. "Aww... my little sister... it looks like once again we have set our sights on the same man... what is it going to be this time? ...are we fighting over him, or are you going to kill him before I get the chance?"
