“Yeah, like they’ve been chipping away at me and at any moment, whatever they do or say will be the hit that makes me shatter.”
I understand exactly what he means. We may not have broken yet, but the cracks are showing in our armor.
Today is Friday, the end of the week. I should feel good that I’ve made it through, but instead, all I feel is dread at what the instructors will throw at me today.
I start Strength class as I have every day this week, challenging an instructor on the Beast in wolf form. Alpha Daniel is the last Alpha for me to defeat, and once again, I barely defeat him, but I do. Next week, I plan to get back to human form. I want to defeat the instructors in both forms. I guess we’ll see if I’m up for the challenge by then.
Ezra challenges Sebastian, but Tyler declines the Beast today, which tells me everything I need to know about how he’s feeling this morning. I did notice his scent on Haley, so I’m guessing she helped him get through last night.
I’ve noticed it all week actually. Alpha Will has spent more time talking to Noah. Luna Mia has been talking to Liam. Alpha James has been talking to Logan. And Haley must have talked to Tyler, although they obviously did more than talk. I guess when they break you, they make sure they don’t actually destroy you in the process.

When it’s time for sparring, Sebastian calls out the partners. However, when he tells me that I’m sparring against him today, my stomach drops. I know what’s coming, I just don’t know what to expect.
He lets Alpha Daniel manage the class and he turns to me.
“Let’s go. I’ve been watching you all week. You’re holding back. Enough. Let’s see what you’ve got.”
I work to push away the feelings that have been swirling around inside of me this week from our deep conversations at night. That has no place here, in the Strength class. Here, he is the instructor, and I am the Alpha.
He takes a defensive position and waits. I go at him hard. I know I’m a strong warrior. The other Alphas have said so and Dane has been practically begging me for years to be his Lead Warrior and train his pack members.
When our sparring ends with him leaving a stinging blow on my ribs, he stops and looks at me.
“You’re better than this Christina. Again,” he demands.
There’s something about the disappointment in his voice that strikes a chord in me, but I get back into position.
I come at him again and again he manages to tag me, making it. hard enough that I feel the pain in my body as well as my heart.
“Get out of your head, Christina. Quit pulling your punches,” he barks. He’s never spoken to me like this. His tone is harsh, forceful, demanding.

“I’m not pulling my punches,” I growl.
“You are. Knock it off and hit me,” he growls back.
