I’ve heard about mate bonds my entire life. I’ve been

surrounded by people who found their mate, loved and adored their mates, and suffered the loss of their mates. But none of that completely prepared me for the force of the love that I would feel from my own mate.

My mate. I smile as I look at Sebastian standing beside me. He turns and looks at me and it’s like he mentally reaches out to caress my mind, just like he would caress my cheek with his fingers. The feeling has me leaning into him, and he pulls our clasped hands to his lips.

‘I love you,‘ he says in our mind link.

He doesn’t have to say it. I can feel it with every movement he makes, with every look he gives me, with every breath he takes, his love for me is there, wrapped around me like an embrace. I‘ m thankful that he seems to understand that I’m overwhelmed with the constant feeling of his love. It’s not that I don’t love him, I do. Goddess, I do. But having his love so forward in my mind, my body, and my soul, is making it hard for me to focus on anything else but him.

This time, his chuckle is both mental and out loud. Alpha James turns and looks at us, raising an eyebrow. I know I blush, but Sebastian just smiles at him. Alpha James shakes his head as the Train begins to slow. We’re coming up to the stop where Alpha Finn is about to board.

“Is there anything in particular we need to know, Alpha James?” Jo asks him.

“He’s still in the overwhelming grief phase. He’ll need patience and understanding and probably some support to get through this semester. But we’ll make sure he’s successful. Hopefully he finds it rewarding like we have, and it will give him something to hold on to,” he says.

I have a much better understanding now of what this group of people, my second family, have gone through with losing their mates. It’s been less than twenty–four hours since Sebastian put his mark on my neck and I already know that I’d be devastated without him in my life, in my mind, and in my heart. It would feel like my soul was ripped in two. I don’t know how anyone could survive that.

This time, his arms do come around me and he presses a kiss. to the side of my head.

“I’m not going anywhere, love,” he murmurs against my ear.

Did I mention he loves being in my head? He’s more connected to me than anyone in my life. He presses his lips to my head again and I know he can feel me settling. His unspoken words have always said volumes and now, they say even more to me.

“Who is dropping Alpha Finn off at the Train station?” Sebastian. asks.

“Alpha Noah. He was so good with his Dad when we were there. You’d have been proud of him Jo,” Sylvie says.

“I’m not at all surprised. He’s a good kid and man does he strive to please. I really do hope he finds his mate soon. He’ll be stronger having someone supporting him and showing him that they are proud of him every day. It’s very important to him,” she

says.

“Charlotte is at this stop too, right?” I ask.

“Yes, and Mia,” James says. He’s no longer Alpha James. He said if I’m an instructor, then we’re equals. That will take a bit of getting used to.

As the Train comes to a stop, Sebastian moves his hand back down to mine. Mia and Charlotte step onto the Train, but Mia gives James a look. He nods and steps off the Train to go support Alpha Finn. Jo follows behind him..

I hug my friends and there’s a lot of happiness when Sebastian and I show our new mate marks.

“Finally! I thought I was going to have to smack you, Christina,” Mia says, making me laugh.
