The Alpha Train (Christina and Sebastian) novel Chapter 248

I look around again. If the medical records have been doctored, or information wasn’t documented properly, then it means someone in the hospital was involved in letting Alpha Colin die. If they did document properly but failed to identify that he was dying, then it’s treatment and the doctor and clinical staff need to be fired and replaced.

Why wouldn’t they have done more testing on your father? Like you, I’m not a medical person. But this all seems like standard protocol. At some point, they must have realized that your father was dying. Why didn’t they start checking other options? It all remained very standard.

I watch as realization dawns on him.

Someone here had to help.

Maybe more than one someone. I’m starting to cross reference names of who was providing care to your father and when. I’m also going to get a recommendation from the Council and send this to a medical professional who CAN determine if this is appropriate care for an Alpha whose health declined until he died.

After we finish eating, I get back to reviewing the medical records and autopsy report of the Alpha Colin. Because it’s still bothe

g me, I nudge Enya’s mental walls a little harder, trying to get her attention.

As soon as they open and I hear her snappish What?I know she’s still pissed off with me. Once again, I lose my control when it comes to her. I tell her that she’ll be sparring with me this afternoon. She may not be willing to talk to me, but she damn well isn’t going to ignore me. At least during warrior training she can punch me. Maybe this time I’ll get

to see just how strong she is while she works off her anger. Then, hopefully, we can talk.

By three thirty, I’m ready to pack it in. I need to see Enya. I need to see if my foolish loss of control has ruined the started to earn with her. I pack up the medical records, letting the little bit of trust I had medical staff know that I’m taking it with me. They are obviously not pleased with that, but too bad. They’re going to be even less pleased if I find out that they were involved, in any way, in Alpha Colin’s death.

When we get back to the packhouse, I jog upstairs, smelling Enya’s scent in the hallway. I love her light floral scent. And damn if that doesn’t remind me that her taste is even better than her scent.

I quickly go to my room, drop off the medical records, and change for warrior training. Then I go to Enya’s room and knock. When she doesn’t answer, I open the door and find her room empty. Good, hopefully she’s already downstairs.

I don’t wait for Shane, knowing he’ll be right behind me. Instead, I quickly jog downstairs needing to see her. I need to know if I’ve destroyed the trust between us.

As soon as I walk outside, I realize she’s not there. I reach out to her mind again, but her walls are still on lockdown.

I growl but keep it quiet. This woman is trying my patience. Where the fuck is she?
