Chloe saw Arthur’s tone and expression and knew instantly–it had to be a call from lan
She reached out to grab the phone, but Arthur hung up before she could even touch it.
Chloe rubbed her temples, trying to ease the headache.
She knew Arthur wasn’t a fan of Ian.

Still, she reminded him sternly, “Mr. Logan, you can’t just answer other people’s calls or go through their phone. That’s just basic respect.”
Arthur just shrugged, all innocent. “Guess I’m used to it. Next time, warn me first”
Chloe was speechless.
Forget it.
Worst case, she could just go back and have it out with Ian Hamilton again.
Right now, nobody was more important to her than the one paying her bills.
Her gaze landed on the bedding, and she asked, “Do you have any other colors?”
Arthur pointed at the closet.
Chloe rummaged around for a while, finally finding a new set of bedding and tossing it onto the bed. “Change out the sheets, take away the scented candle on the table, and get rid of that high–tech feature wall behind the bed.”
Arthur grabbed a pillow and perched on the bedside table. “I have no idea how to deal with any of this stuff.”
Chloe gazed at Arthur for a while, then let out a sigh and went over to help him change the sheets
Meanwhile, Arthur was fiddling with his phone, admiring how good his handsome face looked on the screen.
At that moment, downstairs by the entrance, Ian stepped out of his car, his face stormy.
“You sure they’re up on the eleventh floor?” lan asked.
Mitchell nodded. “Mr. Hamilton, according to our investigation, Mr. Logan bought the apartment on the eleventh floor in your building a few days ago. And that sports car next to Mr. Lewis’s spot? That’s his
Ian waved him off. “You can head back.”
He was inside the elevator before Mitchell could say a word.
Just as the doors were about to close, Patrick slipped in at the last second.

The two exchanged a quick look, then Patrick looked off to the side.
lan’s face was stormy, and he didn’t say a word to Patrick.

When the elevator hit the ninth floor and lan didn’t get out, Patrick glanced back–only then did he realize something was seriously off about lan’s expression.
The elevator stopped on the eleventh floor, and Ian stepped out. Patrick followed right behind him.
Ian glanced back at Patrick, then pressed the doorbell.
Arthur opened the door, and when he saw Ian and Patrick standing there, he tried to slam it shut.
But lan moved faster–he pushed the door open before Arthur could close it, and Patrick followed after him.
lan didn’t say a word. Without missing a beat, he strode straight to the master bedroom.
When he saw Chloe making the bed, his face was so dark it looked like a thunderstorm was about to break loose.
He strode over to Chloe, doing his best not to lose it, and snatched the pillow out of her hands.
“It’s late. Come home with me,” he said.
Chloe could tell Ian was just about at his breaking point.
She picked up the incense diffuser from the nightstand, getting ready to leave with Ian.
On her way out, she called to Arthur, “Remember to swap out that tech wall tomorrow.”
Arthur called out as Chloe was about to head out, “Leaving so soon? You haven’t even fixed my pillow yet.”
Ian gave Arthur a sharp warning look. “Just to be clear, my wife is your doctor–not your maid.”
With that, Ian took Chloe’s hand and led her out.
After they left, Patrick looked over at Arthur and joked, “Trying to steal Hamilton’s girl?”
Arthur blinked. “Steal what? What are you talking about?”
Patrick gave Arthur a friendly slap on the shoulder. “Come on, Logan, I’ve got high hopes for you. Go for it!”
A few minutes later, Chloe and lan got home.
Chloe set down her coat and bag, slipped into her slippers, and poured herself a glass of water to wet her

She looked at Ian and asked, “You just hit me with so many questions at once–which one do you want me to answer first?”
Chloe could tell Ian was seconds away from losing it.
She tried to calm him down. “Ian, I’m not exactly sneaking out at night and picking up random guys, and I definitely didn’t bring home a secret love child. Relax, it’s really not a big deal.”

Chapter 115
The two just stared each other down.
Jan felt his chest tighten, like he couldn’t catch his breath.
He’d heard Chloe say things like this so many times before.
Seeing how rattled Ian looked, Chloe gently sat him down on the couch and handed him a glass of water
“I’ve laid it all out for you. Anything else you want to grill me about?” Chloe said, not backing down.
Ian just stared at her, eyes dark, lips pressed tight–he didn’t say a word, holding back whatever storm was brewing inside.
Chloe waited, but Ian stayed quiet. ‘Of course he’s got nothing to say now,‘ she thought.
She checked the time on her phone. “Alright, if that’s all, I’m heading to shower. Got work tomorrow, not gonna waste my night here,” she told him bluntly.
Not waiting for Ian to chime in, Chloe turned and marched straight into the bathroom, leaving him hanging.
About half an hour later, Chloe stepped out of the bathroom, only to see Ian sprawled on the couch, chain- smoking in silence.
She let out a sigh and walked into the living room. “It’s already late. Don’t forget you’ve got work tomorrow- just go shower and hit the hay, will you?”
Ian looked up at her, taking an extra deep drag from his cigarette.
Chloe just watched him and shrugged. “You know staying up like this bumps your chance of dropping dead to five or ten percent. Your call.”
With that, she spun around and disappeared into the bedroom, leaving lan to sulk on his own.
Ian stubbed out his cigarette, tilted his head back, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.
He sat rigid on the couch for a long moment, steadying himself. Finally, he stood up and went to wash up.
When he returned to the bedroom,
Chloe was already fast asleep.
