The Billion-Dollar Divorce (Ian and Chloe) novel Chapter 153

Just as Chloe was drifting off, all hazy with sleep, she suddenly felt lan’s big hand hesitantly move over her body.

Chloe forced hersel

f to stay still, barely even breathing, until Jan finally rolled out of bed. Only then did she dare to let out a silent sigh of relief.

Ian was meticulous–there was no way he’d miss those little things she’d set up in the bathroom.

‘Lesson learned, Chloe thought to herself.

I’ve got to be on my toes these next few days,‘ she reminded herself.

It was late at night, and Ian stood alone on the balcony off the living room.

His eyes were so dark they seemed to melt into the night, and the disappointment in his gaze was all too clear.

He chain–smoked in silence, one cigarette after another, lost in thought for what felt like an eternity.

The next afternoon, Chloe left Tranquil Estate early and decided to chill at the racing club with Arthur.

After leaving Tranquil Estate ahead of schedule, Chloe dropped by the racing club with Arthur to blow off

some steam.

About an hour later, in the CEO Office of the Hamilton Group.

lan was scrolling through Instagram when he came across a post from one of Patrick’s friends.

The video showed two sports cars–one red, one blue–racing down the track. Suddenly, the red car surged forward with a burst of speed.

In the next moment, the red car pulled off a slick drift, spinning around and coming to face the blue car directly.

The crowd erupted in cheers as the door of the red car swung open.

Climbing out of her red–and–white racing suit, Chloe pulled off her helmet, and her long hair poured down like a waterfall–drawing gasps from the crowd.

In full view of everyone, Arthur scooped Chloe up and spun her around and around, making the whole

racetrack cheer.

Bathed in the glow of her blazing red racing suit, Chloe’s smile was like a red rose in full bloom, catching every eye and stealing the spotlight.

Mitchell watched as lan stared blankly at the video. Not wanting to intrude, he quietly averted his eyes.

‘Holy crap, Mitchell thought, ‘Mrs. Hamilton is seriously cool–and she’s stunning, too.”

‘No wonder Mr. Hamilton refuses to let her go,‘ he mused.

Mitchell couldn’t help blurting out in awe, “Mrs. Hamilton’s driving is absolutely stunning.”

Ian quietly averted his gaze, keeping his face completely unreadable.

He said lightly, “I taught her.”

Mitchell: “…”

As lan headed over to the lounge, he couldn’t shake the image looping in his mind: Chloe, rocking that red racing suit, whipping off her helmet in that jaw–dropping moment.

Chloe basically grew up around race cars, getting her hands dirty in the racing scene as a kid.

She always had guts, willing to give any insane driving trick a try.

But for all her bravado, she never could pull off the textbook “Kiss of Death” drift.

Once she found out Ian could race, Chloe was constantly on his heels, always begging him to take her out on the track and show her some pro moves.

It took smashing up more sports cars than anyone could count before Ian finally taught her how to pull off that legendary “Kiss of Death” drift.

That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, the racetrack was bathed in golden twilight.

With nobody else around, Chloe leaned in and kissed Ian, making the first move right there on the empty track.

She said softly, “Ian, from now on, your kisses are mine–just mine.”

Ian stood by the wine cabinet, softly tapping his knuckles on the tabletop.

His kisses were hers alone–no one else ever came close.

So she had to belong to him, too.

Jan poured himself a glass of red wine and stood by the floor–to–ceiling windows.

His black pants and sharp white shirt made his athletic frame stand out even more. He gripped the wine glass in one hand and his phone in the other, dialing up someone.

He said, “Dutton, if you ever come to Kingsford, let me treat you to some true Kingsford hospitality

Just as lan hung up, Mitchell’s phone started ringing

Mitchell glanced at the caller ID and instantly felt his brain start to ache–great, trouble was calling again.

He walked over to Jan, looking reluctant. “Mr. Hamilton, Ms. Sherman’s been pressing me again. Do you want to go check on her yourself?”

Ian lowered his head, letting his gaze settle on the glass of wine in his hand.

Miranda’s expression was stern as she said, “Chloe is really starting to act out. A while back when you were away on business, she upset Edward so much he had to be hospitalized–and even now, she still hasn’t gone to see him.”

Miranda set down her cup, her tone leaving no room for argument. “Ian, I’m not here to discuss this with you -I’m informing you. No matter what, Clint is one of us, and what’s happening with Andrea is making life. difficult for him. This is your responsibility, and you can’t turn a blind eye to it.”

Ian stood up, restlessly turning around in place, his frustration plain to see.

He restrained himself and said, “Mom, I never said I wouldn’t handle it. I’ve got a project meeting coming up. Let me deal with that first–we’ll talk after.”

Miranda picked up her bag and got to her feet.

She glanced at lan, her voice heavy with meaning. “Ian, if you really can’t handle Chloe–if you can’t get her to fall in line–then you need to seriously think about divorce. The Hamilton family isn’t just some nobody name. We can’t afford to be embarrassed like this.”

A storm visibly crossed Ian’s face.

He’d given Chloe his word–he would respect her, trust her, and never push or threaten her again.

Whatever Chloe did–whether she listened or not, behaved or rebelled–he could never force her to do anything against her will.

Miranda reminded him, “Ian, Chloe’s been spending far too much time with Sir Julian lately, and she’s causing trouble wherever she goes. Honestly, I’m starting to think that Andrea might be a better fit for you. after all.”

Ian’s face instantly darkened.

He shot back, “Mom, seriously? What are you talking about? I’m not looking to divorce Chloe.”

Miranda shot her son a complicated look, then turned and walked out.

Her son was perfect in almost every way–but when it came to relationships, he was an absolute trainwreck.

He was clearly trying to have his cake and eat it too–wanting to keep his wife at home while fooling around with someone else on the side.

Back when she’d faced her husband’s betrayal and had her in–laws breathing down her neck, she never let the mistress and her kid hang around right under her roof.

Now, there’s no way she was letting her own son pull that stunt either.

After wrapping up work for the day, lan still had all his frustration bottled up, with nowhere to blow off steam

Instead of heading home, he made a beeline for that exclusive lounge

He drank with Patrick and his crew until after ten, finally dragging himself back

His gaze fell on several boxes of cold medicine sitting next to the drink counter, and just like that, his drunken

In the bathroom, Chloe had just stepped out of the shower and was still dealing with her period stuff when Ian suddenly walked in without a word.
