Chloe stared at her reflection in the mirror, her body covered in shocking hickeys.

Who the hell did this to me? How long has this guy been starved to leave me looking like this? Chloe thought, her mind spinning.

She shook her head hard, but no matter how much she tried, she just couldn’t remember what had happened last night.

All she could recall was Arthur walking her to the hotel’s guest floor, riding the elevator together and stepping out into the hallway. Arthur had taken a phone call right then, so Chloe insisted on heading back to her room alone.

After that…

‘Did I… hire a hooker?‘ Chloe wondered, her mind racing with anxiety.

Just thinking about it really gave Chloe the creeps.

‘With the way people mess around these days, if I hooked up with someone sick, I’d be totally toast,’ she thought, panic flooding her chest.

No way she could stick around. She had to get back to her own country for a full physical, pronto.

Chloe quickly washed up, changed her clothes, and headed out to check out of the hotel.

At the elevator, she ran into lan and Mitchell.

Seeing lan staring at her neck with that complicated look, Chloe straightened her back and shot him a glare. “What’s with the look? It’s fine for you to cheat and keep some other woman, but I’m not allowed to have a little fun with a pretty boy?”

Ian’s eyes narrowed at Chloe, his lips pressed into a thin line.

Noticing lan’s face getting even darker, Mitchell quietly ducked his head and slipped into the elevator ahead of them.

Chloe walked up to the elevator, reached out, and dragged Mitchell out, stepping inside herself.

She caught a glimpse of the scratches on Ian’s neck and turned away with a look of disgust. ‘Gross. Like he’s any better, Chloe thought to herself.

Mitchell glanced at Ian, awkward. “Uh, Mr. Hamilton, should we…?

Ian stood by the elevator entrance, hands in his suit pants pockets, quietly watching as the elevator doors slid shut.

At eight o’clock that evening, Arthur came to pick Chloe up to take her to the airport.

By the curb in front of the hotel. Arthur was practically glued to Chloe’s arm. “Come on, Chloe, hang out with me for a couple more days, will you?”

Chloe shook her head without hesitation. “Your granddad already said you’d be free once you help with your brother’s wedding at the end of the month. Quit pretending to be sick just to get out of things.”

Arthur kept whining, not letting Chloe get in the car. “Or you could just let me go upstairs and smack him

around.”

Chloe let out a sigh. “Arthur, you might not like hearing this, but honestly, you can’t take him.”

Arthur scrunched up his nose and glared sideways. “This is Europe, Logan family turf! If I can’t beat him one- on–one, I’ll just get the boys together and gang up on him, how about that?”

Chloe pulled him into a hug. “Alright, forget about him. When you get back to Kingsford, I’ll take you out for hot pot.”

Arthur hugged Chloe tight, whining like a pouty kid. “Chloe, I want to go with you.”

Inside the black luxury car, Andrea caught sight of them instantly. “Ian, isn’t that your wife out there, practically clinging to some guy in broad daylight?”

Andrea knew that was Arthur, but she was clearly trying to stir things up.

Ian stared out the window, eyes locked on the two hugging by the curb.

Without so much as a change in his expression, he ordered the driver, “Pull over.”

The luxury car slowly pulled over to the curb. As Ian got out, Chloe slipped into Arthur’s sports car.

Andrea, deliberately fanning the flames, smirked, “Ian, are you saying your wife came all the way to Europe just to meet up with Arthur?”

Ian gave Andrea a look but kept silent.

Back at the hotel, Ian and Andrea parted ways, each heading to their own room.

Andrea was practically bouncing off the walls in her room, unable to contain her excitement.

That night, she and Ian had gone to an international auction, where Ian had spent over ten million on a top- tier emerald pendant.

She was sure Ian had heard her mention her son’s birthday was coming up, and he’d snagged that pendant just for her boy.

Later that night, Ian turned up at Chloe’s door, jewelry box in hand–only to find out she’d already checked out and flown home.

Ian said, “It’s raining quite a bit. Let me walk you to the parking lot.”

He took Chloe’s hand. “Whether I was settling scores or sent you to the detention center, I just wanted to scare you–make sure you’d stay by my side.”

Ian said, “You’re my wife. How could I ever actually let anything happen to you?”

Chloe met lan’s gaze, “Ever since Andrea and her son came back, haven’t you hurt me enough already?”

The tension was almost suffocating between them as they locked eyes.

Seeing how much Ian was hurting, Chloe opened her car door and got in.

She rolled down the window, tossed the jewelry box out onto the street, and peeled out without a second glance.

Ian just stood there, watching her car disappear down the road until it was gone.

He bent over to pick up the jewelry box, feeling so defeated that the umbrella slipped from his grasp and the wind snatched it away.

He just stood there, clutching the pendant, letting the rain pour down over him.

Not far away, Andrea crouched behind a big tree with her umbrella, her eyes red with envy.

‘So all that trouble Ian went through at the auction wasn’t even for my son!‘ Andrea burned with jealousy.

‘He’d rather give such a pricey present to Philip’s kid just to please that bitch Chloe!‘ The thought made her seethe inside.

Andrea gritted her teeth in envy and quietly slipped away.

It was a little after eight in the evening. Chloe was hanging out with her parents and brother in the living room, chatting with the TV on, when a sudden, urgent doorbell interrupted them.

Chloe got up to answer the door.

When she saw Andrea standing there, fuming, Chloe’s face instantly went cold. “Andrea, what are you doing at my parents‘ place?”

Andrea, blinded by jealousy and rage, shoved Chloe aside and stormed straight into the living room.
