Andrea’s eyelashes fluttered and she slowly woke up.
The moment her eyes opened, her first instinct was to grab her phone.

Seeing the time on her phone, Andrea’s expression shifted in an instant as she fixed her eyes on Chloe. “You said this was supposed to be just forty minutes. So why did I sleep all the way till four? What did you do to
me?”
Chloe stayed silent, her gaze drifting toward Ian as he stepped out of the bathroom–clearly avoiding the question.
Ian walked up beside the treatment bed, his face calm as ever. “You nodded off during the session. I told them not to wake you, figured you could use a bit more rest. So, how are you feeling?”
Andrea let out a breath, looking relieved by Ian’s explanation.
She pressed her hand dramatically to her forehead and played up her weakness. “Wow, I can’t remember the last time I got actual sleep. Head’s not pounding, either–miracle, really.”
Andrea laid it on thick, gushing with fake praise. “No wonder all those celebs are lining up for Dr. Irvine. She must be some kind of genius.”
Chloe stood a short distance away, just calmly watching Andrea put on her fake act.
Throughout the whole session, Chloe just hypnotized Andrea–she never gave her any real therapy whatsoever.
Joanna went over a few things Andrea should keep in mind and reminded her to head out soon.
Ian didn’t say another word.
As he walked past Chloe, he paused briefly, gave her a look, and then left the room with Andrea.
By the curb outside the hospital, Ian had the driver take Andrea home first.
Andrea hung around Ian, not wanting to leave. “Ian, my birthday’s in a couple of days. Do you have time?”
Jan looked her up and down. “I’ve been wrapped up with work and haven’t really been there for you–it’s been tough on you. On your birthday, I’ll make it up to you with a present you’ll always remember.”
Andrea could barely contain her excitement when she heard lan’s promise,
She nodded enthusiastically, her voice bubbling. “I don’t even care about the present. If you come to my birthday, that’ll make me the happiest girl ever!”
Ian gave her a nod, and Andrea quickly slipped into the car.
Through the car window, Andrea watched lan get into Mitchell’s car, a sly smile tugging at her lips.
Ian had promised her a birthday present she’d never forget.

Now that he’d made that promise, Andrea was sure the gift would be more precious and unexpected than anything she’d ever dreamed of.
She clasped her hands over her thumping heart as her mind spun with all kinds of daydreams.
‘At long last, my suffering is finally over, Andrea thought to herself.
By the curb, Ian watched as the car carrying Andrea disappeared down the road, his expression growing colder by the second.
He turned and got into Mitchell’s car, handing him the recorder.
“All the clues and evidence are on this recorder,” Ian said.
Ian’s expression turned downright chilling.
Jan fixed his gaze on Chloe for quite a while, struggling to hold back his emotions, his eyes filled with silent longing and disbelief.

Ian was starting to lose his composure. He gripped Chloe’s arm and pulled her close, unable to let her go.
He looked straight into her eyes, voice trembling with raw emotion. “Is this really what you want, Chloe? To cut me off completely?”
Chloe shoved lan away and stepped back, her eyes cold. “You really think I’m joking with you?”
Ian paced restlessly in place, frustration written all over his face.
He dropped his voice, sounding almost pleading. “Chloe, I know I hurt you. This is all I can do to make it right!”
Chloe replied firmly, her tone cold as ice, “I won’t accept it!”
For a moment, they stared each other down, the air between them heavy with unresolved tension.
Chloe finally spoke again, her tone noticeably softer this time.
She said, “Ian, you know perfectly well what kind of men your grandfather and father are. Guys in your family are cold, selfish, and distant–they’ve never shown any real respect to women.”
She went on, “If they ever find out you gave me billions just for divorcing you, they’ll never leave me alone. I don’t want any unnecessary trouble.”
Ian stared at Chloe, a raw ache tightening in his chest.
Just as he was about to speak, his phone buzzed, cutting him off.
He gave Chloe a meaningful look before finally picking up the call.
Chloe could clearly hear Mia sobbing on the other end of the line, her voice urgently asking lan to come home to The Old Hamilton Manor.
Chloe was worried sick. She gave Ian a gentle shove. “Why is Mia crying so much? You need to get back there right now!”
