Chapter 65
Eric’s casual remark stung lan, sounding vaguely familiar.

He frowned, instinctively extending a band to Eric. “Thanks for looking after my wife, Mr. Jordan
Eric offered a polite smile. “Don’t mention it, Mr. Hamilton, Chloe’s practically a junior colleague. Of course
I’d look out for her.”
As prominent figures from elite Kingsford families, lan and Eric naturally knew each other.
Standing outside the car, lan’s gaze was fixed on Chloe in the back seat.
After a moment’s hesitation, he closed the door for her. “Text me when you land.”
His voice was gentle, as if nothing unpleasant had ever passed between them.
Chloe simply smoothed her long hair, offering him no response.
She knew lan was all about keeping up appearances; he wouldn’t make a scene in front of Eric.
Jan’s complicated gaze lingered on Chloe for a few seconds before he quietly looked away.
After a few more pleasantries, Eric got in the car and drove off.
Jan remained rooted to the spot, watching the black luxury sedan merge into the fast lane and vanish into traffic.
He couldn’t tear his eyes away.
A white sports car pulled up behind him.
Patrick Lewis, looking sharp in a stylishly mismatched outfit and sunglasses, stepped out.
He walked over to lan, following his gaze. “Dude, you could stand here staring until you turn to stone. She’s not looking back.”
Patrick’s flamboyant tone snapped lan out of his daze,
They exchanged a look and got into lan’s car.
Patrick took off his sunglasses. “Skipping work to see Chloe off at the airport, only for her to ride off with Mr. Jordan and ignore you. Am I right?”
Jan’s face darkened as he accepted a cigarette. “Shut up.”
Patrick gave lan a shit–eating grin. “You’ve torpedoed your home, you’re getting a divorce, and both your families are at war, all for Andrea and her son. What are you waiting for? Go move in with them and play happy family.”

Ian’s expression was dangerously grim. “I won’t let our families dictate my marriage to Calne”
Patrick studied lan’s face, his tone turning serious. Chloe loves you, fan, but she’s not ano box. You bend as m hurt her, gave her the silent treatment, and even strong–armed her, all for your first lone and from kid wh isn’t yours. You even went after her brother. After everything you’ve put her through any tane person would
never come back.”
lan lit his cigarette in frustration.
Just then, he saw Andrea Sherman walking toward his car, and his irritation spiked
“Ian,” Patrick said, “if I remember correctly, Andrea is staying with her brother and his wife on the Soutaide right? That’s at least a thirty–minute drive. But I recall she’s bumped into Chloe here a couple of times since she got back. Is every single time just a coincidence?”
Ian wasn’t stupid. He knew exactly what Patrick was implying
Patrick chuckled. “And I’ll bet you she’s about to say she was just passing by saw your license plate, and wanted to say hi.”
Andrea was already at Ian’s window. “Ian, what a coincidence! I was just passing by and saw your license plate so I came over to say hi.”

“Ian,” she said, her voice trembling, “Clint never should have been born into this world. He’s had a hard life, just like me. He dreams of having a father. You know what I’ve been through for you these past six years. I’m too scared to ever marry again. Just… do this one small thing for him. I promise I won’t ask again.”
She pushed the colored pencils toward him again.
Ian’s eyelashes fluttered. He looked down, silent for a long moment, before finally taking them.
He focused on the paper, carefully filling in the family portrait with bright colors.
Ian handed the drawing back. Sensing she had gotten what she wanted, Andrea quickly got out of the car.
As Ian’s car sped away, a triumphant smirk played on her lips.
‘As long as Clint exists,‘ she thought, ‘Ian will never be able to forget the sacrifices I made for him.’
Patrick, who was now lounging on the hood of his sports car, eyed her with disgust. “No matter how hard you scheme, you’ll never get into the Hamilton family. Be smart and give it a rest.”
Andrea glanced around before walking brazenly up to him.
She put on a smile. “Patrick, we’ve known each other for years. Why are you always so hostile toward me?”
Patrick threw up his hands. “It’s not hostility. I just can’t stand filth.”
Andrea’s face fell, but she knew she couldn’t afford to make an enemy of Ian’s best friend.
Her voice was laced with faux–vulnerability. “Patrick, I know you and Ms. Irvine grew up together. I understand why you’re protective of her.”
Patrick cut her off. “Ian and Chloe aren’t divorced yet. Calling her ‘Ms. Irvine‘ really shows your hand.”
Andrea’s expression darkened. “Patrick, Ian and I have a child together. Is it wrong for a boy to want to see his father?”
Patrick shot back, “Does the boy want to see him, or do you?”
Her cover blown, Andrea looked away. “I was just passing by. I never pushed lan to get a divorce or tried to ruin his marriage. He’s the one who chose to take responsibility and look after us. None of us did anything wrong. It was just fate.”
