Felicity sneered, staring at Julian. "Three years, Julian! We've been together three years! People talk about the ‘seven-year itch'—we couldn't even make it to halfway before you got bored of me? Is that it? You've found someone new, haven't you? It's Winona, right?"
She was genuinely hurt, pouring all her emotion into every word, as if she truly believed she was Julian's wife. Deep down, Felicity had never accepted that Winona was, or ever had been, Julian's wife. No matter what the history between Winona and Julian might be, Felicity was convinced she was Julian's true partner. End of story.
"Julian, you sure move on fast! Three years and you're already tired of me. Now, suddenly, Winona's perfect in every way and I can't do anything right! You hate me so much, why not just tell me? I'm not going to cling to you—I'll step aside and let Winona have her chance!"
"Do you believe me, Julian? I could walk away right this second and never look back. I'd give Winona your whole life if that's what you want!"
Julian looked at Felicity's dramatic display and honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He was left speechless.
Only after her outburst faded a little did he finally manage to ask, gently, "So, why did you suddenly come back from the job site today? And why'd you buy coffee for the whole admin team?"
Felicity froze. Then she stammered, "I… I solved a huge problem at the site today. I was happy, I wanted you to celebrate with me—is that so wrong? Sure, I'm an engineer, but I'm still a woman, you know. What's wrong with a woman wanting a little attention from her boyfriend?"
"This morning, legal was supposed to call Winona, but they accidentally called you instead. Isn't that what really happened?"
Felicity fell silent.
"Felly, we've been together for three years. We know each other inside out, we love each other for who we are, don't we? Let's be honest with each other for once."
Felicity was silent again.
Julian sighed, his voice calmer now. "Felly, what are you so afraid of? What are you worried about? In the three years we've been together, have I ever betrayed you, even once? From the moment I met you, I never shared a bed with Winona again. Real love means understanding, it means trust."
He looked at her, his expression earnest. "If we can't handle things with Winona properly, do you really think I could live with myself?"
"Winona is my ex-wife—no, technically, she's still my wife. She's the mother of my child. She hasn't wronged us, she hasn't stood in our way. In fact, she's already accepted that you and I are together. Just today, she wished me, you, and Tiana a happy life together as a family."
