Felicity froze. "What… what did you say? You have Julian's phone, and you're telling me he's in the shower?"
"That's right," Winona replied curtly, then hung up. She didn't want to waste another breath on Felicity. Just hearing her voice made her feel sick.
On the other end, Felicity began to tremble uncontrollably. "You…"
The line went dead. After a moment of stunned silence, she let out a primal scream of anguish. "Ah… Winona! You bitch! Do you have no shame? You answered my boyfriend's phone and told me he was in the shower! Winona! You've gone too far! I'll kill you…"
Tears of rage streamed down her face. Her cries were sharp and piercing. If Winona had been standing in front of her at that moment, she would have stabbed her a thousand times without hesitation. She wanted to tear her limb from limb.
"Felly, what happened?" Xander asked, his voice full of concern. Although he had grown fond of Winona, he still considered Felicity a friend. In his eyes, she was a brilliant woman caught in a messy love triangle. But when it came to matters of the heart, who could really say who was right and who was wrong?
He steadied Felicity, who was sobbing uncontrollably. "Felly, what's wrong? What happened?"
Felicity's teeth ground together. "Xander, is this the ‘good person' you were talking about? The one you befriended without even telling me? Do you know what she's doing right now? I called Julian, and she answered his phone! She had the audacity to tell me he was in the shower!"
"She answered Julian's phone and told me he was in the shower! Xander, is she testing my limits? Does she think that because we live in a civilized society, I won't actually kill her? Is that why she's being so provocative? Xander, you might as well just kill me now, because if you don't, I swear I'm going to kill her…"
Her hatred was so intense it felt like she would shatter her own teeth. "She's gotten a little power, and now she's become arrogant. So arrogant! I'll kill her…"
At that moment, every employee on the site was united in their outrage for Felicity.
Felicity nearly collapsed in Xander's arms. She couldn't work anymore. Xander helped her to his car and drove her home.
"Felly, when people are emotional, they make bad decisions," he said, trying to calm her down. "You need to stay calm. You're exhausted. You need to rest. I'll go find out what's going on, but please, don't do anything rash. Okay?"
Felicity clung to him. "Xander, you have to be on my side. Please, be on my side! Don't be fooled by Winona's act. She's a terrible, vile woman!"
"I'll find out the truth for you," Xander promised. "If they're in the wrong, I'll stand by you. At the very least, I'll make sure you don't lose the project you've worked so hard on." Until he knew the facts, he wasn't going to blame anyone.
