The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 295

"Thank you, Mr. Prescott. If you change your mind, you know where to find me," Winona said with quiet dignity as she got out of the car. She turned back. "I hope you can..."

"I keep my word. I promised to be a pillar of support for your grandmother, your sister, and your son. No one in Greenwood City will dare to touch them."

"No," she said.

Yves raised an eyebrow. "Hmm?"

"My retirement project will elevate your reputation in this city. It will take the Prescott Group to new heights and make you a significant profit. I offer that as..."

"It's a fair trade. You don't owe me anything. I'd have to be as stupid as Julian to turn my back on a cash cow like this. Of course I'll protect your family. I won't let anything happen to them." His tone was sharp, almost angry.

Winona simply said, "Thank you."

Without another word, Yves sped away.

Just outside the complex, he found his driver, Caleb, waiting for him. As Caleb took the wheel, he asked, "Back to the office, Mr. Prescott?"

"Just wait here," Yves commanded.

Caleb was confused but didn't dare question him. They sat in silence for nearly an hour. When no one came out, Yves ordered, "Drive in."

"I'm not being picky. But look at our family. Are we really in a position to be choosing anyone? Sis, have you ever stopped to think? From the time I was sixteen until now, I've been controlled either by my adoptive parents or by Julian. They never treated me like a human being. And when I first met Yves, the horrible things he said to me... I can't just forget that."

"I just don't want my dignity trampled on ever again. I want to live on my own terms, owing no one, relying on no one, and taking care of my three burdens. From now on, my focus is on making money. A man is optional. I can live without one."

Her words were spoken with a casual air, but they carried the weight of deep pain. After a pause, she sighed. "I just don't know what I'm going to tell Zane the next time he asks for his 'Dad Prescott'."

She looked troubled for a moment, but then several women approached them.

"Aren't you the woman from the live-streamed divorce? We all saw you! You were amazing. So many people misunderstood you, but you finally got justice. I'm a huge fan now."
