The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 322

Jason was speechless.

"You really overestimate yourself," Yves said with a relaxed laugh. "So let me make this crystal clear. I will marry Winona and no one else. I don't care if she's divorced, has a child, or comes with baggage. I don't care if she's been married five times before. I'll still marry her. From this moment on, if I hear you utter one more word about who I should or shouldn't marry, I will pull one of your teeth for every comment. And I always keep my promises."

Jason's hands clenched into fists, his knuckles white with rage. He couldn't believe how impervious Yves was. Everyone said he was unpredictable, domineering, and played by his own rules, with connections on both sides of the law. It was all true.

But the Shepherds weren't pushovers, either.

"Yves Prescott! You think violence makes you strong? I've been more than civil with you!" Jason's tone shifted from indignant to threatening. "You may be a big name in Greenwood City, but I'm not afraid of you. Between my brother-in-law, my connections in Port City, and me, taking you down wouldn't be that difficult. Are you really willing to destroy yourself for this woman?"

To his shock, Yves threw his head back and let out a wild, arrogant laugh. "Hahaha!"

He leaned in, his eyes glinting. "Bring it on. I'm waiting for you, Julian, and your little friends from Port City to come at me together. Let's see who destroys whom first."

His voice dropped to a chillingly calm whisper. "I'm making a promise here today. Whether in Greenwood City or Port City, if anyone dares to touch a single hair on Winona's head, I will leave their corpse rotting in the street. I am a man of my word, and this is no joke."

The final sentence, delivered with an unnerving quietness, made Jason and the entire Shepherd family—Xander, Felicity, Teague, Henrietta, and the elders—freeze in their tracks.

They knew he wasn't bluffing.

The elevator doors opened right on cue. Yves strode in with Winona and Zane, completely ignoring the furious roars of the Shepherds left behind.

Once they were out of the elevator, Yves let go of Winona but kept hold of Zane's hand. The boy, who had been silent until now, suddenly became chatty. "Dad Prescott, you were so cool back there! I've never seen anyone protect my mom like that. Now I can rest easy."

Yves looked down, amused. "Rest easy about what, young Mr. Prescott?"

"About letting my mom marry you, of course!" Zane replied with the gravity of a tiny adult.
