The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 321

Don't let the fact that Julian had given him a hairline fracture fool you; when Yves Prescott gripped Jason's wrist, his strength was still ruthless and steady.

He squeezed until Jason winced in pain.

Just as Jason thought his wrist was about to snap, Yves let go.

Instead of getting angry, Jason managed a polite smile. "You must be Mr. Prescott. I've heard a lot about you. In Greenwood City, your reputation is on par with my brother-in-law, Julian's—first-class in both business and family legacy. I've been wanting to meet you for some time."

"Sorry, but the feeling isn't mutual," Yves said, pulling Winona closer with one arm. He shot Jason a look that was pure ice, offering him no courtesy whatsoever.

A flicker of embarrassment crossed Jason's face, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. He regained his composure. "I assume your hostility toward me is because of the woman in your arms... Winona?"

"Who gave you the right to say her name?" Yves shot back, his voice dangerously low.

"Mr. Prescott, you may not be aware, but the Shepherd family raised Winona for sixteen years. We gave her a life fit for a princess, and how did she repay us? She nearly drove my parents to their graves and systematically stole every resource that belonged to my sister. My brother-in-law and my sister are deeply in love, but she…"

Before he could finish, Yves slapped him hard across the face.

Jason froze, stunned. He touched his stinging cheek and stared at Yves in disbelief. "You… how dare you hit me in broad daylight!"

At her request, Yves released Jason.

Clutching his nearly dislocated jaw, Jason sputtered, "Mr. Prescott, are you really going to turn on us for this ungrateful, manipulative, greedy woman? Do you have any idea how low-class she is? She dropped out of high school and wandered the streets. Who knows what sordid things she's done? Doesn't that disgust you? Not to mention she's been married and has a child!"

But Yves only pulled Winona tighter.

He smiled at Jason. "Who I choose to marry has nothing to do with her past. And I certainly don't need your approval. Did you really think your pathetic attempt at slander would turn me against her?"
