"Julian, you're here! I told you not to come. You should be at the Nicholson Group managing things. I can handle everything here," Felicity said, walking over to him with a look of considerate concern.
"My parents and grandparents want you to come to the main house for lunch," Julian said gently.
"Really? Oh, I'm so happy!" As she spoke, she instinctively placed a hand on her belly.
That afternoon, Felicity sat at the dining table in Nicholson Manor as the most honored guest. If the Shepherd estate was a lavish mansion, Nicholson Manor was a palace. It wasn't modern or sleek, but grand and opulent, with intricate carvings and an air of timeless luxury.
Even the well-traveled Felicity felt a bit nervous sitting at the head of the table. But the family patriarch, Simms, and the current matriarch, Janetta, had insisted.
Janetta beamed at her. "Felly, my dear, you have no idea how much good fortune you've brought to our family. The day after you told us you were pregnant, my investment in Port City earned a hundred million!"
"Really, Janetta?" Felicity asked, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Of course! And that's not all. Even Victor's condition has improved significantly. The doctors have found a promising treatment plan," added Shera, who was sitting next to her mother.
"That's wonderful news," Felicity said, once again touching her stomach. A wave of reassurance washed over her. These two babies were truly her saviors.
"Felly, have you been feeling unwell at all? Are you tired? You're pregnant, you know. Tell me if there's anything you're craving," Janetta asked.
The lunch was filled with laughter and joy. It was the happiest, most unified family meal the Nicholsons had shared in six years.
The very next day, Janetta took her daughter Shera to the construction site.
Sure enough, they saw Winona there, alongside Felicity. Their future daughter-in-law, Felicity, was hard at work in a safety helmet, consulting blueprints and taking measurements. But that vampire, Winona, was dressed like a mistress, just standing there, looking around.
"As if pretending to look will make you understand! Winona! You vampire! I will not allow you to disrupt my daughter-in-law's work! Get the hell off this construction site!" Janetta stormed over to Winona, raising her hand to strike her.
