Hearing Frank, barely conscious, call out for Winona, Felicity felt a surge of jealous rage.
For the past few months, everyone had turned against her and sided with Winona. And why? Because Julian had publicly divorced her in a live-streamed video? Because he didn't love her? Because Winona was the weaker party?
Did being weak make you right?
She and Julian had been in love for years, admiring and supporting each other, practically living as one person. For his sake, she had completely accepted Tiana and showered her with love. But just because they didn't have a marriage license, she was vilified by the entire world?
Xander sympathized with Winona.
Julian's two best friends sympathized with Winona.
And now, even Mr. Frank, just moments after cheating death, was thinking about Winona.
In that moment, Felicity wanted nothing more than to kill her.
Henrietta squeezed Felicity's hand, a silent warning to stay calm.
Felicity nodded.
She leaned down and whispered soothingly to Frank, "Mr. Frank, I know you want to apologize to Winona, but you're not out of the woods yet. It will take at least two weeks for you to recover."
"I…" Frank was too weak to form a complete sentence.
"Uncle, because of your transplant, Julian and I have postponed our wedding another twenty days. In twenty days, when you're better, you have to be the one to officiate our ceremony. And at the wedding, we will publicly offer Winona our most sincere apologies. How does that sound?"
"Julian and I will spend the rest of our lives making it up to her. Okay?"
Tears streamed down Frank's face. He lifted a withered hand and grasped Felicity's. "She… Shepherd… you truly are… my goddaughter… a good girl."
"Oh, stop your whining!" Henrietta snapped, lashing out at anyone in her path. She had always disliked her melodramatic mother-in-law. If she was being honest, her mother-in-law was at least twenty percent responsible for the family's current predicament.
Of course, Winona was responsible for the other eighty percent.
"Mom is getting old, don't yell at her," Teague Shepherd interjected, trying to keep the peace. "I know you're angry at Winona. She's like a cancer, poisoning our family. We need to find a way to get rid of her…" As he spoke, two streams of blood trickled from his nostrils.
"Dad!" Jason cried out, alarmed. "Are you okay?"
Teague waved a hand dismissively. "The doctors did a full check-up. It's not serious yet, as long as I don't get angry or overly emotional."
"Dad, please don't get worked up. Don't let Winona's actions punish you," Felicity said, her eyes filling with tears. "You have to be healthy for my wedding."
"You all saw the test results. I'm fine, don't worry. What we can't do right now is fight amongst ourselves. We have to stand united against Winona!" Teague said, looking seriously at his mother, wife, and children.
