The whole family nodded in agreement.
A vicious glint appeared in Henrietta's eyes. "I can't get to Winona right now, but her daughter… she's like a little puppy, wagging her tail for me…"
"Tiana deserves it! I treated her like my own daughter, and she betrayed me!" The thought of Tiana secretly trying to see Winona made Felicity's blood boil.
"Stepmothers always have it hard," Henrietta sneered. "You could give that girl your heart on a platter, and she still wouldn't be grateful. Besides, she's just as ungrateful and rotten as her mother. I'm going to break that little brat and turn her into your lapdog for life!"
That evening, when the Shepherds returned to Julian's villa, he was out.
The wedding had originally been planned for before the New Year, but after Yves Prescott's sudden attack on their family, they had to postpone. Then, with Frank's unexpected heart surgery, they decided to wait until he was well enough to attend. The wedding was now pushed back another two weeks. Julian had gone to the city's most luxurious hotel to personally handle the rescheduling.
Only Tiana and a few housekeepers were home.
When Tiana saw the Shepherds return, her eyes went vacant for a few seconds before she lit up with forced excitement.
"Great-Grandma's back! Grandpa and Grandma are back! Uncle's back! Mommy, did you all have fun today?"
"We weren't out having fun! We were visiting someone in the hospital. How dare you smile!" Henrietta snapped, her eyes downcast.
"Mom!" Felicity warned her under her breath.
Henrietta's expression instantly changed to a warm smile. "Tiana, my sweet little baby, come here. Come to Grandma's arms. I've been out all day and I'm exhausted. All I want is a hug from my precious granddaughter."
"Grandma…" Tiana chirped, running into Henrietta's embrace.
Henrietta used all her strength to viciously pinch the inside of Tiana's thigh.
The pain was so intense that Tiana bit her lip until it bled, but she continued to tremble and smile sweetly at Henrietta.
Henrietta smiled back. "My sweet girl, Grandma loves you so much, doesn't she?"
Tiana got out of bed, took his hand, and said affectionately, "Daddy, I have great news! I realized that my new mommy is so, so nice to me. And Grandpa and Grandma are so nice to me, and so is Great-Grandma! I have so many new relatives all at once. Daddy, I love them so much."
Julian smiled, relieved. "That's wonderful to hear."
They went downstairs and sat at the dining table. Tiana was seated directly across from Henrietta.
Henrietta smiled warmly at her. "Tia, would you like corn chowder or cream of mushroom soup? Tell Grandma, and I'll get it for you, okay?"
"Corn chowder, Grandma," Tiana replied with a smile.
"Of course! Grandma will get some corn chowder for our little treasure right away."
Henrietta personally brought the bowl of soup to Tiana.
But Tiana picked up the bowl and hurled it at Henrietta, letting out a piercing shriek. "Ghost… demon!"
