The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 422

Julian's pride was shattered. He pulled out his phone and typed a text to Winona: "I'm in the lobby of your building. If you're not down here in ten minutes, I will use every resource at my disposal to flatten your little firm. I was your husband. You should know I'm not bluffing."

When Winona received the message, she was furious. After a moment, she turned to the people in the meeting. "I need to step out for a moment. I'll be back in fifteen minutes."

She left the room, took the elevator down to the ground floor, and found Julian sitting on a sofa in the reception area.

"What do you want?" she asked coldly.

"Tiana is our child," he began. "Even though I have custody, you still have a duty as her mother. Your complete indifference is cruel to her."

Winona let out a humorless laugh. "Mr. Nicholson, when you did everything in your power to turn our daughter against me, to make her curse at me, reject me, and humiliate me, did you remember then that I was her mother?" she retorted, her voice dripping with ice. "You're the one who ripped my child away from me and handed her over to the woman you love, engineering a bond between them stronger than that of a real mother and daughter. You have no right to lecture me about cruelty."

Julian was speechless.

"We are divorced," she continued. "We agreed on the terms: no property disputes, and I voluntarily gave up my parental rights. We are strangers now, with no ties between us. I expect you to honor the court's decision and never come looking for me again."

She turned to leave, but then spun back around. "And tell your grandmother, Old Mrs. Shepherd, that if she ever lays a hand on my grandmother at the market again, I will make sure she has nowhere left to be buried."

Old Mrs. Shepherd stood frozen, her face burning with shame. She never expected her grandson-in-law, who had always been so respectful, to look at her with such contempt. She scurried back to the elders' quarters in humiliation.

For the next two days, she didn't dare make another request of anyone. She didn't even protest when her husband went out to visit "that damned old woman from the country."

Two days passed in a flash. The twelfth day of the first lunar month, which was also February 14th, Valentine's Day.

The day Felicity had been dreaming of for three years—her wedding day with Julian—had finally arrived.
