The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 424

A blissful smile graced Felicity's face. "I'm almost five months along. Because it's twins, I'm showing a bit more. But it's no problem. Julian had all my wedding gowns custom-made to conceal the pregnancy."

"This daughter-in-law is a real prize," one guest murmured. "A thousand times better than the last one."

"Of course she is," another whispered back. "The last one was just a convenience, they only got a marriage certificate, no wedding. And she was useless, only had one daughter and that was it. This one comes in with twins right away and is so accomplished. If it were me, I'd choose her too!"

Felicity floated through the sea of praise, savoring every word.

Further away, another group of guests was gossiping. "Mr. Nicholson already has a child? I had no idea. I always thought he was single."

"See that little girl running around over there? That's his daughter," one of them said, pointing to Tiana, who was darting through the grand hall alone.

For Tiana, her father and Felicity's wedding was the happiest day she'd had in a long time. Everyone was so busy with the preparations that even Henrietta had no time for her. Today, she wouldn't be pinched. Yesterday, when Henrietta's entire family had moved out, had been the most peaceful night's sleep she'd had in over a month, even though the household staff barely paid her any attention.

Tiana suddenly realized that a home without Felicity's family, even if it was just her and her father, and even if she couldn't eat her mommy's cooking anymore, could still be a happy place. If only her real mommy could come back, it would be heaven.

Then she remembered that she had been living in heaven all along and hadn't known it. She had driven her own mommy away. A wave of confusion and sorrow washed over her, and tears welled up in her eyes.

She pulled out her watch-phone and called Zane. He answered immediately. "Sis, are you sad again?"

Tiana forced a smile into her voice. "No, brother, I'm super happy today! The old witch isn't around. She's busy getting the little witch married, so she doesn't have time to bother me."

"You hate the old witch that much?" Zane asked.

But Henrietta's smile was unnervingly kind. "Tiana, here," she said, holding out a small, sharp object. "Take this brow razor and go cut up the dress your mommy is wearing right now."

Tiana stared at her, frozen.

"What, you won't listen to Grandma anymore?" Henrietta asked, her smile never wavering. To Tiana, that smile was more terrifying than any demon's face.

Tiana took the brow razor from Henrietta's hand and ran towards Felicity with a bright, sweet smile on her face. Then, she began to slash wildly at the hem of Felicity's gown.

Felicity froze for a second, then reacted with feigned horror. "Tiana! Tiana, what are you doing, sweetie? Why are you ruining Mommy's dress?"
