The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 439

“Mr. Frank,” Felicity asked, her voice trembling with excitement, “are you saying you're transferring your entire fortune to me tomorrow?”

“Is tomorrow a good time for you?” Frank asked gently.

Felicity hesitated. Of course, she was available, but Julian wasn't home. He hadn't returned since the wedding.

After a few seconds of silence, she asked, “Mr. Frank, do I really need to bring my entire family?”

“Is there a problem, Shepherd?” he inquired.

Felicity didn't know how to answer. Her marriage to Julian had been the event of the season, and she had achieved her goal of bringing her children into the Nicholson family, forcing them to accept Kevin and Catherine in front of thousands of guests. But Julian had walked out that day and hadn't come back. She knew he was furious and decided it was best to give him space to cool down rather than hound him with calls. It had been four days, and she had no idea where he was.

Frank, misinterpreting her hesitation, suddenly remembered her health scare. “Shepherd,” he asked, his tone apologetic, “are you still on bed rest? You can't get up yet, can you?”

Felicity seized the excuse. “Yes, Mr. Frank. The other night, taking care of you at the hospital, I overdid it and started spotting. I think I need a few more days to recover completely.”

“Oh, that's my fault,” Frank said, sounding genuinely concerned. “I was so worried about my own health that I forgot you were putting your pregnancy at risk for me. In that case, I'll have my lawyers and butler stay an extra day. We can handle the notarization once you're feeling better.”

“Okay… thank you, Mr. Frank,” Felicity said, trying to hide the immense frustration in her voice. The last thing she wanted was a delay, but she had no choice but to wait.

As soon as she hung up, she frantically dialed Julian's number.

Julian shook his head. “No.”

“Son, are you planning to divorce her?” Janetta pressed. Before he could answer, she sighed. “She's carrying your children. Twins. And you'll never be able to have more…”

A sense of powerlessness washed over the Nicholson family. They knew that if Felicity hadn't been pregnant, she would have been cast out without a second thought. But she was carrying his twins, and it felt as though she had bound them with unbreakable iron chains.

Escape? It seemed impossible.
