Cordelia found out about Harold's new gig at Prosperity Peak Investments pretty quickly—thanks to Brenda, who's always on top of the latest gossip.
Prosperity Peak Investments was a heavyweight in the financial world, far more expansive than your typical accounting firm, setting the gold standard in the industry.
"Not too shabby, Harold's got some serious skills," Cordelia remarked.
"He sure does. I couldn't even get my foot in the door when I applied there," Brenda admitted. "But you never tried, right?"
"Right, I didn't. I started interning at Lumos Enterprises straight out of college," Cordelia said with a chuckle, reminiscing about her early days and feeling that rush of youthful excitement again.
"Well, here's to Harold crushing it at his new job."
After they hung up, Cordelia couldn't shake the feeling that Harold had undergone some major changes lately. It was almost like he'd struck gold overnight.
When she mentioned this to Ronan, he just grunted, not overly concerned.
He thought to himself, could there be a wealthy widow with a thing for Harold? Was Harold trying to fast-track his way to success?
If Ronan hadn’t been so swamped with work, he might have looked into who this mysterious benefactor was. But with Emerson’s engagement coming up and Lumos Enterprises buzzing with activity, Harold’s life was the last thing on his mind.
After landing the job at Prosperity Peak Investments, Harold decided to call Willow.
This time, she picked up.
"I got the job, thanks to you," Harold said. "I should be able to pay you back soon."
"Why thank me? You're the one who got the job," Willow replied, her tone pragmatic. "Paying me back is the least you can do."
After a long pause, Harold suggested, "Let's meet up."
