The Day I Walked Away My Empire Began novel Chapter 134

Elio just laughed, completely unimpressed. “Wow, I’m shaking. You’re really scaring me here.”

“Steven, let’s just lay it all out. Once Lucie divorces you, she’s marrying me. You’re totally invited to the wedding.”

Steven let out a cold, sarcastic laugh, his expression darkening. “So that’s it. You were the one behind my son’s kidnapping, weren’t you?”

Elio shot him a look like he’d lost his mind. “Seriously, did you get kicked in the head or something? I saved your son. You don’t even thank me, and now you’re accusing me?”

Steven’s eyes narrowed, voice icy. “Isn’t it just a little too convenient? My son gets kidnapped, and you just happen to be the guy who saves him? Maybe those kidnappers were working for you. Maybe this whole thing was your idea from the start.”

Elio laughed out loud, totally incredulous. “Man, your brain really is scrambled. The cops are right here. If you’re so sure, go tell them what you think.

“No wonder Lucie wants out. With brains like yours, you never stood a chance.”

Steven lost it. “You’re dead.” His composure shattered. He lunged, swinging a fist at Elio’s face.

Elio ducked just in time, dodging the punch.

Steven was usually the picture of self-control; nothing rattled him. But right now, he was completely unhinged, all reason gone.

Lucie rushed over, panic in her voice. “Steven, what are you doing?”

Elio pulled her behind him, flashing Steven a defiant smirk. “Don’t get involved, Lucie. This is between us.”

Then he shook out his arms, bouncing on his toes like he was warming up for a fight. “Come on, try again.”

Steven’s face twisted with anger and he charged, throwing another punch.

Elio danced out of the way, dodging him over and over, taunting as he moved. “Missed again. Seriously, you’re too old for this.”

The smug look on Elio’s face just pushed Steven further. He suddenly lunged, swinging a powerful right hook.

Elio jumped back, but Steven was faking him out. As Elio moved, Steven closed in and slammed a hard left uppercut right into Elio’s nose.

“Ugh!” Elio staggered back, blood pouring from his nose. He wiped it away, smearing red across his hand.

“You’re screwed, Steven!”

Before Steven could react, Elio sprang forward like a wildcat, driving his knee straight into Steven’s stomach.

“Stop! Break it up!”

Steven’s butler and bodyguards came running. “Mr. Heath, stop!”

It took everyone’s combined effort to finally drag the two men apart.

“Enough! No more fighting!”

Steven stood there, chest heaving, anger radiating off him. Blood dripped from his left hand, cut open by the glass. Elio’s face was bleeding too, a nasty gash dangerously close to his eye. If he’d moved a split second slower, he could’ve lost it.

Lucie’s breath caught. She glanced back and forth between Steven and Elio. “…Are you okay?” she asked Elio, worry all over her face.

Elio took a shaky breath, forcing a little smile. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” He was still in shock that Steven had actually tried to kill him.

“Your face is bleeding,” Lucie said, fumbling for some gauze and pressing it gently to his wound.

Watching her tend to Elio, Steven felt a surge of jealousy so sharp it hurt. He was her husband, but she didn’t even look at his injuries. All her attention was on the other man.
