The Day I Walked Away My Empire Began novel Chapter 210

“I’ll move if I want to!” June shot back, getting even more fired up as she bounced around, throwing playful punches at Elio.

“Can you calm down for like, one second? Stop making such a scene,” Elio groaned, rolling his eyes. Honestly, if it weren’t for Lucie, he wouldn’t even bother being around June.

Lucie stepped in, trying to keep the peace. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s just go eat something, okay?”

“Fine by me.”

The three of them headed to the buffet. Elio slid an arm around Lucie’s shoulders, acting all casual. “Lucie, I’m sitting with you.”

Before he could get comfortable, June barreled in from behind, shoving Elio out of the way. “Move it. I’m sitting next to Lucie.” She plopped down right beside Lucie, totally ignoring Elio.

Elio rolled his eyes so hard he nearly saw his brain. Left with no choice, he sat down across from them, clearly annoyed.

“Lucie, what do you want to eat? I’m eyeing the teppanyaki,” June said.

“I’m good with anything,” Lucie replied.

They each grabbed plates from the buffet, loaded up on some fancy seafood, and even ordered a few premium dishes that weren’t part of the regular spread.

June’s phone buzzed. It was Steven.

[Why’d you stop replying?]

She glanced at her phone and smirked. [Just wanted to see what you were up to.]

Steven replied right away. [I’m at the hotel in the resort, about to shower and go to bed.]

June snickered, typing quickly. [Send me a few pics? I miss you.]

Steven felt a rush of excitement and his cheeks warmed. He grabbed his phone, found the best lighting in front of the full-length mirror, and snapped a bunch of selfies. After picking out the handsomest ones, he sent them to June.

Her phone vibrated again. June snatched it up and grinned when she saw the new photos. Steven, in a bathrobe, stood in front of the mirror, the collar just loose enough to show off his collarbone and a hint of his chest. The guy was practically dripping with confidence and looked almost criminally good.

[Is this really Lucie?] he texted.

[Why would you ask that?]

June could sense he was getting suspicious. Thinking fast, she turned on her camera. “Lucie, let’s take a selfie for the memories!”

Lucie, busy with her food, shrugged and nodded. “Sure.”

June snapped a bunch of selfies, making sure Lucie was in the frame.

“Let me see,” Lucie asked.

“I’ll send them to you after I touch them up,” June said, sliding back into her seat. She quickly cropped herself out of one photo and sent just Lucie’s picture to Steven.

[Am I pretty?]
