The Day I Walked Away My Empire Began novel Chapter 76

He didn’t even like her body type anyway, too flat for his taste.

“Ms. Rivas, please, don’t do this,” he said nervously.

“Just give it to me, please…” Shannon had completely lost control. She threw herself at him, arms locked around his neck as she kissed him like her life depended on it.

The bodyguard freaked out at first, trying to push her off, but he couldn’t resist her for long.

“Ms. Rivas, you’re the one asking for this. Don’t blame me if you regret it later,” he warned.

Then he scooped her up and carried her straight into the changing room by the pool.

He was young, strong, and had endless energy. They went at it for hours, tangled up together until midnight.

When it was finally over, Shannon was completely exhausted, passing out in a blissful, dreamless sleep. The bodyguard still had to work the night shift. Once he saw she was asleep, he quickly got dressed and slipped out of the room.

Early the next morning, Shannon slowly woke up, her mind still foggy. The first thing she noticed was how cold she felt. She looked down and saw she was naked, stretched out on the little sofa in the changing room. Clothes were scattered everywhere, a mess that made last night’s madness impossible to ignore.

Her mind went blank, panic crashing over her so hard she nearly blacked out.

Oh my God… Last night… She actually…

Thinking about how desperate she’d been, practically begging a stranger to sleep with her, made her want to scream. She bit her lip until she tasted blood, tears streaming down her cheeks. She’d held onto her virginity for twenty-three years, and just like that, it was gone.

What am I supposed to do now? she thought, grabbing fistfuls of her hair, on the verge of breaking down. She wanted to sob, to scream at the top of her lungs, but she forced herself to stay quiet. Shaking all over, she scrambled to get dressed as fast as she could.

She couldn’t tell anyone. She’d have to swallow this shame all by herself. There was no way she could let her brother find out she’d slept with a bodyguard. The worst part? The Heath family had so many bodyguards, she didn’t even know which one it was.

Nine in the morning. Heath International’s boardroom.

“Good morning, Mr. Heath,” someone said.

Steven sat down at the head of the table, staring blankly for a long moment. Finally, he spoke, his voice flat. “Let’s get started.”

“Right away.” The secretary switched on the projector and pulled up the agenda.

But just as they started, Steven’s phone rang. An unknown number flashed on the screen.

His heart skipped a beat. It had to be Lucie.

Without a word, he picked up the phone and walked straight out, leaving the stunned shareholders behind.

Everyone stared at each other in confusion.

“Um… is Mr. Heath coming back?”
