The Day Silence Spoke novel Chapter 111

Latisha flinched, looking up to see Yesenia standing before her, fuming.

Yesenia wasn’t angry about the desk itself, but about the fact that the moment she was gone, Latisha had taken her place.

Latisha stared back at her, motionless.

Yesenia snatched the files from the desk, glanced at them, and then glared at Latisha. With a sweep of her arm, she shoved everything on the desk into the trash can.

The commotion attracted a crowd of onlookers, who began whispering among themselves. Yesenia was notorious for her tyrannical behavior at the company. No one dared to cross her. She did nothing all day, but she had protection from the top.

Yesenia didn’t bother arguing with Latisha. She stormed directly into Clifford’s office without knocking.

“Clifford, what is the meaning of this?!” she demanded.

Clifford, who was reviewing a document, paused and looked up. “What are you talking about?”

“That mute girl!” Yesenia pointed toward the door. “Why is she here? I left yesterday, and you brought her in today. What are you trying to prove?”

Clifford stared at her, his gaze sharp and heavy with pressure. Yesenia suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Latisha was his legally wedded wife; her questions were crossing a line. But she was furious. He could have hired anyone, so why did it have to be Latisha? Was he trying to spite her?

“I have my reasons,” Clifford said. “Since you’ve decided to pursue acting, you should focus on that. Now that you’ve left the company, stay out of its affairs.”

Yesenia bit her lip, a sense of grievance welling up inside her. Tears began to form in her eyes. “But I don’t want her around you! It’s bad enough that she has your name, but now she gets to be near you at work too? Where does that leave me? What am I?”

She added, “I don’t approve. You need to get rid of her, now!”

Clifford’s brow furrowed. “Yesenia, don’t be unreasonable!” he said, his voice firm.

Yesenia’s mouth opened, but no words came out. Tears streamed down her face.

“You don’t even care about my feelings,” she choked out.

Clifford looked down at her, his lips parting as if to say something, but he remained silent.

“Clifford, you can’t have it all,” she said, her voice laced with bitterness. “You’ll pay for it one day.”

A cynical smile touched his lips. He lifted her chin and gently wiped away her tears. “No one in this world isn’t greedy,” he said casually. “And you’re no exception.”

Yesenia froze, staring at him intently. She had always wondered what kind of woman it would take to tame a man like him.
