The Day Silence Spoke novel Chapter 259

Just then, a knock came from the door. Santino’s gaze left her, and he turned to answer it.

Seizing the opportunity, Latisha quickly pulled on the dry pants. By the time she looked up again, Santino had already stepped outside, closing the door behind him.

Latisha let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding and sank onto the bed, her body trembling with relief.

Santino crossed the corridor and entered another room where two people, a man and a woman, were waiting. If Latisha had been there, she would have recognized the woman instantly. It was none other than Selah Madison.

Santino dropped into a chair, leaning back lazily. He surveyed them both before speaking. “Ms. Madison, shouldn’t you be by Mr. Lambert’s side? Or have you decided to run away with me?”

Selah, dressed in her usual professional attire, sat primly in her chair and offered a weary smile. “There’s not much use for me by his side anymore.”

Santino crossed his legs, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Perhaps you should reflect on why that is.”

Selah flushed slightly. “Yes… I came to tell you something else. It might be a little difficult to get out of Etherea City right now.”

“Who said I was leaving Etherea City?”

Selah blinked. “Then you…?”

Santino didn't answer, his gaze drifting to the rain-streaked window. “What about Clifford? His wife is missing. How is he reacting?”

Selah frowned and shook her head. “No reaction at all. He’s been busy with company matters these past two days. The shareholders' meeting is coming up. I doubt he has time to worry about that mute girl.”

Santino’s eyes flickered, and he let out a soft laugh. “How interesting.”

Selah exchanged a confused glance with the man beside her.

Santino suddenly stood up. “Alright, you can go back now.”
