Clifford took her hand, about to guide her, when Ziven's voice suddenly echoed from outside.
"Mr. Lambert!"
"Mrs. Lambert!"
Hearing the call, Latisha quickly pulled her hand away and turned to grab her clothes.
Clifford caught her wrist. "They're wet."
Latisha froze.
"Ziven!" Clifford raised his voice, shouting to the outside.
Ziven heard him and scrambled toward the sound, calling out from the cave entrance. "Mr. Lambert, are you and Mrs. Lambert in there?"
"Bring us two sets of clothes."
"Oh, right!" Ziven crouched down and pushed a bundle of clothes through a gap in the makeshift screen.
"I got these from the farmhouse. They'll have to do for now."
Ziven had had the foresight to grab some clothes from one of the rooms before leaving. It was a good thing he did.
Clifford took the clothes. They were clearly Santino's, but since they were similar in build, the clothes fit him well enough. On Latisha, however, they were huge. The tunic-style shirt was large on her, but she could wear it like a dress.
Once they were dressed, they stepped out of the cave. Latisha's legs were weak, and she stumbled after just two steps. Clifford swiftly scooped her up into his arms and carried her out.
Ziven breathed a sigh of relief seeing them both safe and sound. But then he noticed the sky outside had begun to pale with the first hint of dawn. He started to worry again.
"Mr. Lambert, we might not make it back for the shareholder meeting now. What should we do?"
Hearing this, Latisha stiffened and instinctively glanced at Clifford.
