THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1052

Upon receiving Dr. Lynn's confirmation, Raven's mother completely broke down.

She grabbed the front of Dr. Lynn's coat, screaming, "You fraud! You quack! My daughter is only in her thirties! She can't spend the rest of her life paralyzed in bed! Give her back to me! Give me back my daughter!"

Before, Raven was only disfigured.

But now…

It's not just her face that's ruined. She's paralyzed from the neck down, completely dependent on others for the rest of her life.

It was a devastating blow.

Dr. Lynn's two assistants quickly stepped in front of Raven's mother. "Ma'am, we understand how you feel right now, but please calm down. Every surgery has risks. Doctors aren't gods; we can't guarantee a zero-risk outcome. Dr. Lynn fully informed the patient and her family of the risks beforehand, and you signed the consent forms!"

At the mention of the forms, Raven's mother collapsed into sobs.

It was two hours later when Raven finally woke up. The first thing she saw was her mother sitting by her bedside.

"Mom," Raven said excitedly, "was the surgery a success?! Quick, get me a mirror!"

Even though the procedure had just ended, she couldn't wait to see her new self.

Raven's mother turned, her eyes red and swollen, struggling to find the words to tell her daughter the truth.

"Mom, go on!" Raven urged.

Unable to hold it in any longer, her mother burst into tears. "Raven… it failed. The… the surgery failed…"

A chill ran down Raven's spine. "Mom, you're… you're lying to me. You have to be lying, right?"

Her mother could only weep.

Raven tried to throw off the covers, to get out of bed and find the doctor herself.

But that's when she realized she couldn't move.

Her hands wouldn't respond.

Her legs were immobile.

Even turning her head felt impossibly difficult.

How? How could this be?

Wasn't Dr. Lynn supposed to be the best? Why? Why did things turn out this way?

No!

She refused to accept a life paralyzed in bed. She wouldn't become a useless burden, someone who couldn't walk, who had to be fed and cleaned up after.

The thought of spending the rest of her life in adult diapers, lying helpless, made it hard to breathe.

Turning her into a cripple was worse than killing her.

Why was fate so cruel?

"Aaargh!"

A guttural scream tore from her throat. Overwhelmed by the intense emotion, her vision went black, and she fainted.
