Ever since they started trying to conceive, Gordon had been reading voraciously.
One book claimed that eating more acidic foods increased the chances of having a daughter, so for the better part of a year, he'd been loading up on beef, chicken, and egg yolks.
The book also detailed which positions were supposedly best for conceiving a girl.
Gordon was a man who strived for perfection in everything he did, so he had followed the book's instructions to the letter.
Therefore...It had to be two girls!
Gordon was supremely confident.
The doctor glanced at Gordon with a hint of surprise. It wasn't every day you saw a father this invested.
Many men wanted daughters, but usually because they already had a son and hoped for one of each.
Gordon turned his attention back to the doctor. "Doctor, is there anything specific we need to be careful about right now?"
"Yes," the doctor nodded. "The first three months are the most delicate, so you should avoid sex. Nutrition is also key. Focus on high-quality protein and iron-rich foods, and you'll need to start taking folic acid. I'll write you a prescription."
"Okay." Gordon noted every word.
The doctor continued, "Also, there are many foods an expectant mother should avoid. On your way out, on the wall to your right, there's a poster with a list of them. You can take a picture if you can't remember everything."
"Great, great, I'll go right now." Beatrice whipped out her phone and scurried out of the room, as if she feared the poster would be torn down if she were a second too late.
Caitlin followed her. "Mom, you don't need to take a picture. I'm a doctor, I know what I can and can't eat."
"No, no," Beatrice said without looking back. "Pregnant women can be forgetful. I'll feel better if I have a photo."
Gordon turned to Caitlin. "Honey, I'll go pay and get the folic acid. You and Mom wait for me over there. I'll come find you once I have it."
"Okay." Caitlin took a sip of her water. "Go on."
Gordon jogged off to the pharmacy.
Beatrice took pictures of both the list of foods to avoid and the list of recommended foods, then returned to Caitlin's side. "Catie, should we tell your parents and grandparents the good news right away?"
The Gonzales family elders had been eagerly awaiting this news.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
