“Are you really willing to lend it to me?”
Competition between top students was fierce, almost cutthroat; under normal circumstances, no one would ever dream of handing over their test papers to a rival. After all, a single extra point could mean losing out on a coveted scholarship spot.
Carson had never met anyone as open as Caitlin before.
“Yes, you heard me right.”
Caitlin quickly pulled out her test paper and handed it over. “Here you go.”
Carson took it, feeling as if the moment wasn’t quite real. “But… why would you lend me your paper?”
“Because I’m just a regular Good Samaritan,” Caitlin joked, flashing a crooked smile.
“Thank you.” Carson bowed slightly, sincerity written all over his face. “I’ll return it to you within the week.”
“No rush.”
As soon as Carson left, Scarlett and Celeste closed in around Caitlin.
Scarlett leaned in. “Catie, aren’t you worried Carson will study your answers and beat you in next month’s exams? Everyone calls him the testing machine.”
“Not worried,” Caitlin replied, a dimple showing as she smiled. “I like a good challenge.”
Scarlett grinned and gave her a thumbs up.

Sylvester Gardens.
Today was the 15th.
It was the Sylvesters’ tradition to gather the whole family once a month.
Alaina, Justice, and Skyler arrived together, a happy little trio. Even Gordon, notorious for being married to his work, managed to leave the office early.
Beatrice shot back, “Those two bachelors hardly count as a proper taste test.”
Skyler: “……” Critical hit +2.
Just then, Gordon came through the front door.
Skyler rushed over to him. “Uncle, come on—join us in the kitchen!”
Gordon’s voice was cool and clipped. “I don’t cook.”
Skyler grinned. “That’s okay! You can learn. I just picked it up myself—trust me, cooking makes a guy way cooler.”
He was thoroughly impressed with himself these days.
Gordon slipped off his suit jacket and handed it to a waiting housekeeper, his tone measured and icy. “The kitchen isn’t my battlefield—the office is. You two go ahead and indulge your domestic fantasies, but leave me out of it. I have no intention of ever learning to cook. Thanks, but no thanks.”

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
