Dinner.
Just like last time, the moment Gordon’s post went up, his feed exploded with likes and comments.
Alaina happened to be scrolling through her phone and spotted his update. Curiosity got the better of her. “Gordon, I remember you never used to post on social media. But now you’ve put up two in a row. Do you have a crush on someone?”
Beatrice jumped in, full of excitement. “Who is it? Come on, kid, who do you like? Is it Catie?”
The mention of ‘Catie’ made Gordon’s breath hitch, but he quickly composed himself, keeping that usual cool and reserved façade. “When you reach a certain age, you just start picking up new hobbies—like going to concerts or practicing yoga. Is that so odd?”
Skyler nodded sagely. “That’s true. I never liked yoga before, but now I’m all about it.”
Alaina narrowed her eyes, sensing something was off but unable to put her finger on it.
Beatrice, instantly deflated, sighed. She’d really thought this kid was finally waking up!
But no such luck.
“So, are you coming home on Saturday?” Beatrice pressed.
“Maybe,” Gordon replied, picking up his silver spoon and taking a sip of his soup.
“I’m warning you,” Beatrice said, determined to play matchmaker between Gordon and Catie. After all, she’d even learned to swim for her future daughter-in-law—and she’d been terrified of water her whole life. “The whole family’s going to be home. If you dare skip out, you’d better watch yourself.”
Gordon glanced over at Beatrice, feigning reluctance. “If you want me there that badly, I’ll do my best.”
With that, he set down his spoon. “Mom, Justice, Alaina, I’m done. I’ll head upstairs.”
“Go on, go on!” Beatrice waved him away. “You’re a pain to look at anyway.”
No one noticed the hint of a smile tugging at Gordon’s lips as he turned away.
Just then, Alaina, Justice, and Skyler all came out to welcome her.
“Catie! You’re here!”
“Hey, Boss Catie!”
“Miss Kensington.”
Three people, three different greetings.
Catie walked over to Alaina and greeted them in turn, “Miss Alaina, Justice, Skyler.”
Alaina beamed. She loved when Catie called her that—it made her feel at least ten years younger.
“Come on in, Catie! I have to tell you, our chef has whipped up some brand-new desserts lately. You’re going to love them!”

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
