Justin nodded. “You’re right, big brother. Mom’s condition is still unstable—none of us should leave her side right now.”
What if they walked out for just a moment and Hannah couldn’t hold on any longer?
None of them wanted to imagine that possibility, but they had to be prepared for the worst.
Kelvin happened to enter the hospital room to change Hannah’s bandages just as the Richards family was deep in discussion. He paused, caught off guard by what he overheard.
“Excuse me,” he said, his disbelief clear. “Did I just hear you say you know another doctor who can perform the Golden Needle Channel Activation?”
“That’s right,” Warren confirmed with a nod.
Kelvin frowned, unable to hide his skepticism. “Mr. Warren, even Professor Prescott—who was directly mentored by Dr. Oracle—can’t perform the Golden Needle Channel Activation. The odds of finding anyone else who truly can are incredibly slim. I’d caution you against clutching at straws just because you’re desperate.”
Dr. Lawler was a legend in the medical world. He had spent years studying the Golden Needle Channel Activation technique, and even under Dr. Oracle’s guidance, he’d never truly mastered it. That alone showed just how difficult the technique was.
But now, a total unknown claimed he could do it? Kelvin had very real doubts about this person’s intentions.
Jade spoke up, “The referral came from Academician Chatham. And that doctor once saved Academician Chatham’s life when he had a sudden heart attack. I think that proves he’s the real deal—otherwise, he could never have saved someone like Academician Chatham.”
Kelvin shook his head. “A heart attack is very different from what Mrs. Richards is facing. If you respond quickly, any experienced doctor can save a patient from a heart attack—it doesn’t require the Golden Needle Channel Activation technique.”
A heart attack is dangerous, sure, but it isn’t always a death sentence. With the right treatment in time, most can be saved.
Hannah’s situation, unfortunately, was nothing like that.
Warren understood Kelvin’s concerns, but his eyes were resolved. “No matter whether this person is a miracle worker or just an ordinary doctor, whether he really knows the Golden Needle Channel Activation or not, we need to bring him here and at least give it a try.”
The rest of the Richards siblings and in-laws nodded in agreement.
After all—this was Hannah’s last hope.

Elsewhere.
Ann’s flight touched down at Neon Spire Airport, and she was already making plans to visit Hannah quietly.
The Richards Manor stood in the most luxurious district of Neon Spire.
It wasn’t fair. None of it was fair.
Then Amanda’s voice came back on the line, “Your grandmother just got a call from Mrs. Richards—the eldest. She said Hannah had a fall and is now in critical condition at Baycrest Medical Center. Ann, go to the hospital right now!”
Amanda paused, then added, “Your grandmother was planning to come in person, but her migraines flared up just before she was supposed to leave. Your uncle is bedridden again and needs care, so I have to stay here to take care of both of them.”
For a moment, Ann could hardly contain her relief.
Good. This was perfect.
It felt like even fate was finally on her side.
Keira’s migraines couldn’t have come at a better time. Keira was old-fashioned and strict; if she’d come to Neon Spire too, Ann would have been walking on eggshells, never able to show her best side in front of the Richards family.
But now, with Keira stuck at home, Ann could finally act freely—no one to hold her back.
Amanda’s voice came through again, firm and urgent. “Ann, with Hannah in critical condition, all the Richards’ grandchildren will be flying in from around the world. You have to seize this opportunity. If you play your cards right, this could be your chance to stay in Neon Spire for good—and become the mistress of the Richards household!”
