Ann did it on purpose—every word, every question was calculated.
She was playing the long game, retreating so she could advance.
She knew full well that Tammie would never want to bring Caitlin along to meet C. By raising the possibility first, Ann could win Tammie’s favor and come across as generous and magnanimous.
And, just as Ann expected, the moment her message went through, Tammie frowned.
Bring Caitlin? What for? Who did Caitlin think she was?
Caitlin always acted so high and mighty, claiming she could see C whenever she pleased. If that were true, why was she begging him now? The whole thing was contradictory. Tammie had always suspected Caitlin was bluffing.
Really, Caitlin only had two things worth boasting about: being the Gonzales family heir, and being the granddaughter of the Richards family of Neon Spire. Strip those identities away, and Caitlin was nothing.
Besides, Caitlin no longer acknowledged him as her cousin. Why should he do her any favors?
Ann really was too kind. Anyone else, after all that Caitlin had put her through, wouldn’t still be trying to help her. But not Ann.
And Caitlin, completely blind to her own blessings, spent all her time scheming against Ann and making her life harder.
Tammie immediately typed out a reply: [I’ve cut ties with Freya. We’re no longer family, and if she wants to see C, she can figure it out herself. I’m not a wishing well.]
When Ann saw the WhatsApp notification pop up, a small, satisfied smile played on her lips.
Ann’s words sounded caring, as if she were standing up for Caitlin, but every sentence was a subtle rebuke.
With Ann’s gentle prodding, Tammie’s dislike for Caitlin only deepened. He bristled with frustration.
“Ann, you always see the best in her, but do you know what she really thinks of you? I asked her to apologize to you and she refused. She doesn’t even care that you’re her sister!”
Tammie truly despised Caitlin. If only she could be half as considerate as Ann, none of this would have happened.
And what infuriated him most was that Caitlin didn’t even care about saving face for her own cousin.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
