THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 568

A venomous glint flickered in Ann's downcast eyes. Not only was she silenced, but Petty and Leonore were also trapped. They were clearly in the wrong, caught red-handed. Any attempt to argue would only make them look even more ill-mannered in front of the Capital's most influential figures.

Petty swallowed her pride and walked over to Caitlin. "Miss Gonzales, I misspoke. I apologize. I hope you can forgive my thoughtlessness."

Seeing Petty apologize, Leonore realized the gravity of the situation and followed suit. "Miss Gonzales, I'm sorry. I didn't mean any harm. I hope you'll be the bigger person and let this go."

Caitlin offered a small smile. "As long as you learn from your mistakes. I hope, Miss Somerset and Miss Reed, that you won't make the same one again."

Leonore was seething, but she had to maintain a pleasant facade. "Your words are wise, Miss Gonzales," she said through a forced smile. "I assure you, it won't happen again."

The other guests, witnessing the exchange, murmured their approval. "That was masterfully handled by Miss Gonzales."

"Yes, her ability to command a room is textbook perfect."

Keira entered just in time to hear the praise for Caitlin, and a proud, satisfied smile spread across her face. Her granddaughter had not disappointed her.

Seeing that the spotlight was still on Caitlin even after her grandmother's arrival, Ann grew impatient. Miss Palmer's flight would be landing soon. In the meantime, she needed to redirect the conversation back to herself.

Just then, Aurora, another friend, walked up to her. "Ann, congratulations! I heard that not only is Miss Palmer coming to give you the signet, but Daniel Richards is going to publicly confess his love for you today! When did he first fall for you?"

The question immediately captured everyone's attention. They were all dying to know the details of this supposed romance.

"It was love at first sight for Daniel," Ann replied, a blush coloring her cheeks.

Daniel was in love with Ann? Love at first sight? And he was going to confess at this party?

"Yeah, I am!" Daniel nodded, looking surprised. "But how did you know?" Only he knew about his plan. Was his sister psychic?

Hearing his confirmation, Ann's face lit up with smug satisfaction. See? She knew it. Daniel was in love with her. She had expected him to confess in person, but it seemed he was going to do it over the phone instead.

"Ann told me," Caitlin said. "She said you're in love with her."

"Ann?" Daniel looked confused for a moment, then scratched his head. "Who's Ann? Some crazy fan? Why would I confess to her?"

A wave of shocked whispers swept through the room as the guests exchanged stunned glances.

Daniel's voice came through the phone again. "Freya, don't listen to rumors. I'm not interested in some girl named Ann. The person I love is named Vivian Jones, and I'm about to confess to her here in Melbourne today!"
