THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 607

Caitlin touched the wallpaper as well.

She immediately detected a strange, faint odor mixed in with the scent of mold. She looked up, her eyes meeting Gordon's. No words were exchanged, but they both understood.

The agent, already on edge, grew even more tense. Goosebumps broke out on his arms. "Miss Kensington, Mr. Sylvester, what are you talking about? Is… is it a ghost? Don't scare me!"

The house was already creepy enough without them acting so mysterious.

Caitlin didn't answer him directly. Instead, she asked, "When was this painting put on the wall?"

"It must have been the first owner," the agent replied.

"With so many owners over the years, no one ever changed it?" Gordon voiced the question on his mind.

The agent explained, "It's a piece by Master Summit, very valuable. The first owner glued it directly to the wall. If you were to tear off the wallpaper to redecorate, the painting would be ruined. So, none of the owners ever considered touching it or redoing this wall."

Master Summit. A renowned oil painter from Eldermere, whose authentic works were rare and fetched high prices.

Caitlin stared at the painting again, lost in thought.

"Catie, what's wrong?" Gordon immediately noticed her change in demeanor.

Caitlin said, "My grandmother told me that my mother used to love Master Summit's work. She had a huge collection."

Carey had owned nearly a hundred of his paintings. Marcia had been hired specifically to take care of her. It wouldn't have been difficult for Marcia to sneak one out without Carey noticing right away.

If Marcia had stolen the painting for profit, she wouldn't have glued it to a wall.

Unless…She was trying to hide something with it. As long as the valuable painting was there, no new owner would ever disturb that wall.

With that thought, Caitlin grabbed a corner of the canvas.

*Rrrrip—*

The entire painting tore away from the wall, exposing the damp, aged plaster underneath.

The wall was not only damp but also showed signs of cracking. As the painting came off, the room seemed to grow even colder.

The agent jumped at Caitlin's sudden action. "Miss Kensington, what did you do that for?"

Even though the painting was covered in mold, it was still an original Master Summit.

"There's something inside the wall."

Caitlin's voice was calm and quiet, but it sent a shiver down the agent's spine.

*In-inside the wall?*
