"Woof woof woof!" Monday wagged his tail at Caitlin.
Gordon had Monday perform several more tricks before giving him the rest of the roast duck.
Caitlin looked at Gordon, amazed. "How did you teach him all that? I tried so many times, but he never learned."
Gordon leaned down, wrapping an arm around Monday's neck. He grinned. "That's a secret between us men."
Monday lifted his head and barked in agreement. "Woof!"
*Dad's right. It's a man's secret.*
Soon, the shop owner brought over their order. The steaming bowls of noodle stew were drizzled with fragrant chili oil. When stirred, the aroma of garlic filled the air. The noodles were springy and smooth, the broth a perfect balance of sour, spicy, and savory.
Caitlin took a slurp of noodles. "Wow! This is delicious!"
Gordon brought a piece of fried chicken to her mouth. "This is really good too. Here, try it."
Caitlin took a bite. It was the kind with a savory, molten center. The outside was crispy, the inside tender, and with one bite, a burst of hot, spicy broth filled her mouth. "Hot, hot, hot!"
Gordon quickly pulled it back, gently blowing on it. His eyes were soft. "There, not hot anymore."
If anyone else had seen this, their jaws would have hit the floor. Who would have believed that the icy Master Ninth could have such a gentle, tender side?
The streetlight cast a soft glow on them, enveloping them in a warm light. They ate and chatted while a giant dog lay contentedly at their feet. It was a perfectly cozy scene.
After their late-night meal, Gordon walked Caitlin home, their fingers intertwined.
Even if he was excited to see his uncle, there was no need to hit himself.
*Ouch!* It hurt. He wasn't drunk. It was real.
Ike said urgently, "Skyler, I just saw your uncle holding a girl's hand while crossing the street!"
Skyler rolled his eyes. "You've said the same thing a dozen times!"
The first time, Ike claimed he saw Gordon eating at a street stall with a girl. The second time, he said he saw Gordon riding a bicycle with a girl. And now, he was holding hands with a girl while crossing the street.
"Ike, Ike! Third time's the charm, right?" Skyler said. "Do you really get a kick out of trying to fool me with this story?"
"If you don't believe me, just turn around and see for yourself."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
