Thinking of this, Leo's eyes glinted dangerously. He put his phone away and headed upstairs to the bedroom.
Inside, Ivy was sitting at her vanity, going through her skincare routine.
Leo pushed the door open and walked in. "Did you buy that Jade Glow Balm?"
"I did," Mrs. Barrett nodded.
"Where is it? Let me see."
Mrs. Barrett held up the bottle. It was a simple, white container with no flashy designs—a return to basics. When she unscrewed the cap, there was no overwhelming fragrance. Leo sniffed it carefully but detected no strange odors. Then, he examined the ingredient list.
It was filled with various plant-based medicinal extracts. As a veteran of the skincare industry, Leo had never seen so many medicinal compounds in a single product. Didn't Caitlin know that all medicines carry some risk? These ingredients might seem safe on their own, but when combined, they could easily have adverse reactions.
Furthermore, everyone's skin is different. Not everyone could tolerate these compounds, especially Ivy, who had extremely sensitive skin.
Before, Leo had only suspected the balm might be problematic. After seeing the formula, he was one hundred percent certain it would cause issues.
He narrowed his eyes, his expression carefully neutral. "Since you've decided to use Freya's balm, you should probably stop using your other skincare products."
"Why?" Ivy asked, looking at him.
"The Jade Glow Balm claims to handle scar reduction, brightening, and moisturizing all at once," Leo explained. "If you layer other products on top, you might interfere with its effects, right?"
Ivy nodded, thinking his point made sense. "Alright, I'll stick to just this for a while then."
As he watched her put away her other creams and serums, a triumphant smile touched Leo's lips.
Ivy used the Jade Glow Balm diligently, morning and night. On the third day, she approached Leo. "Do you think the scars on my eyelids have faded at all?"
She closed her eyes.
Although sales of Jade Glow Balm had tapered off from their initial launch-day frenzy, the product still held the number one spot on the domestic skincare sales charts.
Ivy had been using it consistently. One evening, as she sat at her vanity, she suddenly noticed something. "Leo, Leo, come here!"
"What is it?" Leo walked over.
Ivy pointed at her eyes. "Don't you think the scar on my eyelid has gotten worse lately?"
It was strange. Instead of getting better, the scar seemed to be getting more and more swollen. "And it's been so itchy at night. Do you think something bad will happen if I keep using it?"
Leo smiled, comforting her. "Of course not. You're overthinking it. It's just a skincare product, what's the worst that could happen? Besides, you've used it for this long. It would be a shame to stop now."
*Just wait,* he thought. *In less than three days, her eyes will be a disaster.*
If it was serious enough, she could even go blind. If Ivy lost her sight, she might genuinely consider suicide. A woman as vain as her would never be able to accept life as a blind person.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
