"That little bastard dared to disrespect you?" The Dowager's expression darkened.
Rosemary gave an exaggerated account of the incident, emphasizing Caitlin's insult.
When she finished, the Dowager sneered, "It's true what they say. A bitch gives birth to a bitch." She had been too lenient with Flavia. It was her own compassionate nature, her faith, that held her back. Otherwise, she would have gotten rid of her long ago.
After a moment, she changed the subject. "By the way, did you happen to see Will at Palmer Castle today?" Will was the youngest Lord of the Windsor family and the man Rosemary most hoped to marry.
Rosemary shook her head. "No."
The Dowager frowned. She had made inquiries and had specifically sent Rosemary to the castle today because she had heard Will would be there. It was a wasted opportunity.
"No matter," she said, trying to sound encouraging. "There will be other chances."
Rosemary nodded.
Flavia, her cheek swollen and red, made her way to the kitchen. Dr. Tina was walking toward her from the opposite direction.
Seeing the mark on Flavia's face, Tina frowned. "Madam."
Flavia offered a weak smile.
As they drew closer, Tina saw the extent of the swelling and stopped. "Madam, did the Dowager and Miss Vance give you trouble again?"
As Tina cleaned the wound, Flavia didn't even flinch. Her expression was one of quiet resilience. For a moment, Tina saw a different woman in her eyes—strong and determined, a stark contrast to the submissive person she usually was.
After applying a soothing cream, Tina asked, "Madam, have you been feeling unwell lately? You seem more tired than usual."
Flavia shook her head. "I'm fine. Dr. Shirley has already given me some medication."
At the mention of Dr. Shirley, Tina said no more. Once the wound was treated, Flavia left to go back to the kitchen.
A moment later, Tina's phone rang. It was her sister, Zelda. They chatted for a few minutes before Zelda brought up the real reason for her call. "A few days ago, Olivia was nearly hit by a car. If it hadn't been for a brave woman from Eldermere who saved her, I don't know what I would have done." She described the speeding car and how Caitlin had seemed to appear out of nowhere to rescue Olivia.
Tina listened, her heart pounding. "Zelda, we must find a way to thank her!"

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
