THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 768

Mrs. Palmer nodded, wiping away her tears.

"Mother, I'd like to sit up for a bit," Brock said.

She immediately stacked two pillows behind him and helped him into a sitting position. After a few moments, the medicine in the bowl had cooled enough to drink. Mrs. Palmer picked it up, ready to feed him.

Suddenly, Brock coughed, and a spray of blood erupted from his mouth.

"Pfft!"

Mrs. Palmer screamed, fumbling for a tissue to wipe his face. "Brock! Are you alright?"

Before she could clean the blood from his chin, he coughed again, spewing another mouthful of dark red blood. His face turned deathly white. It was a terrifying sight.

"Brock! Brock!" she shrieked, her voice cracking with panic. He couldn't speak, only gasp as more blood bubbled up from his lips.

The castle staff flew into a frenzy. Celia heard the commotion and ran into the room. "Mother! What's happening?"

"Brock," Mrs. Palmer's voice was a choked sob. "Brock is… he's vomiting blood!"

"Mother, stay calm. I'm calling Freya right now!" Celia pulled out her phone to contact Caitlin.

Suppressing his excitement, he said, "Alright, I understand. Find a way to leave the castle now. Don't get caught." The maid was his informant, planted inside the castle to keep him updated on Brock's condition. Now that his prediction had come true, her services were no longer needed.

"Yes, Mr. Lance."

After hanging up, Lance let out a cheerful whistle. All he had to do now was wait for Mrs. Palmer to come begging.

Back at Palmer Manor, Celia had gotten through to Caitlin. After a brief conversation, she hung up, a look of relief on her face. She went back into the bedroom. "Mother, don't worry. I just spoke with Freya. She said vomiting blood is a normal part of the process. It means his body is expelling the toxins."

She added, "Freya also said he's recovering well. If he takes his medicine tonight, he should be able to walk by morning."
