From where she sat, Celeste could only see Caitlin's profile. Her skin was a delicate, flawless white, her lips a soft pink. Her nose was perfectly straight, and her almond-shaped eyes sparkled as if she were wearing contacts, radiating an inner light. She was so radiant that even doing nothing, just sitting there, was enough to take one's breath away.
Celeste had never believed in love at first sight, but now she did. If she were a man, she was sure she would have fallen for Caitlin instantly too.
"Love at first sight?" Caitlin raised an eyebrow. "Do you really think he likes me? That was a performance, not a confession. It's just a game for a royal like him, and I'm just a piece on the board. The one who takes it seriously is the one who loses."
There was no such thing as love at first sight in this world, only lust at first sight.
Celeste stroked her chin, considering it. The more she thought about it, the more it made sense, especially recalling the arrogant way Will had stood before Caitlin. "You're so sharp, Catie! I didn't even think of that."
Celeste was a sucker for a handsome face, and Will was the epitome of a foreign heartthrob. He had the lineage and the looks; dating someone like him didn't seem like such a terrible thing. If she were in Caitlin's shoes, she might have been swayed by his appearance.
As for Caitlin's claim about having a boyfriend, Celeste didn't give it a second thought. It was obviously just an excuse to fend him off, so she didn't bother asking about it.

Meanwhile, at Lance's villa, he was impatiently waiting for an obituary from Palmer Castle. A final rally typically lasted only a day. Today was the second day, which meant it was likely Brock's last.
Lance checked his watch. It was past nine in the evening.
He narrowed his eyes and looked at Alfred. "Contact Yago."
Yago was the servant Lance had planted inside Palmer Castle.
"Right away, sir."
Alfred made the call. After a brief conversation, he hung up.
Lance asked eagerly, "What did Yago say? Is Brock on his last legs?"
Alfred's expression was complicated. He hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Yago said… Patriarch Brock looks even better today than he did yesterday. He can already walk on his own now."
"Tina's friend found the security footage," Zelda said with a wide smile.
John was just as excited. "Quick, let's see it."
Tina played the video. On the screen, Olivia was standing by the road, enjoying a lollipop, when an SUV suddenly sped toward her. Just in the nick of time, a figure dashed out and swept Olivia into her arms, her long hair flying in a perfect arc.
Even watching it again, Zelda's heart leaped into her throat. John and Tina were also on the edge of their seats.
John stood up and made the sign of the cross. "Thank God. Thank God."
Tina squinted at the face on the screen. "You know, this heroine from Eldermere… she looks familiar."
It felt like she had seen her somewhere before.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
