THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 800

Impossible. Absolutely impossible.

"I'm not kidding," Gordon said coolly. "There's nothing shameful about it. If a woman can marry into a man's family, why can't a man marry into a woman's? You shouldn't look down on it." As far as Gordon was concerned, if Caitlin agreed to let him do it, he would be the luckiest man alive.

Will swallowed hard. "I'd really like to know what kind of person your girlfriend is." She had turned Gordon into a complete fool. Was she some kind of goddess? "Master Ninth, who is she? Do I know her?"

"She's also from Eldermere. You wouldn't know her," Gordon said, then added, "My girlfriend is a very private person and doesn't want our relationship to be public. So, don't go spreading it around." Although Will's social circle was separate from his, Caitlin was currently in Valerium. If she found out he'd been talking, Gordon worried she would be angry.

His girlfriend doesn't want to go public? Will narrowed his eyes. Something didn't add up. Normally, a woman dating someone like Gordon would want to announce it to the world immediately to stake her claim. With a man of his stature, there would always be competition. Going public was the only way to secure her position and feel secure.

Therefore, Will concluded, it wasn't his girlfriend who wanted secrecy—it was Gordon. That way, he could still flirt with other women on the side. He never knew Gordon was such a player.

Will put on a knowing smile. "Right, Master Ninth. I get it. I totally get it. Your relationship is a secret between you, me, the heavens, the earth, and your girlfriend. No one else will ever know."

Gordon gave a slight nod of approval.

Will pressed on. "Master Ninth, now that even you're off the market, what about me? You still haven't taught me how to win that girl over!"

Will's face lit up. "Master Ninth! You're a genius!"

"I learned it from a book," Gordon said modestly.

Will squinted, a look of confusion on his face. "That's strange. I've read A Random Walk Down Wall Street before. How come I don't remember it teaching you how to pick up women?" It was a book about finance, after all.

Gordon glanced at him, a hint of superiority in his eyes. "A thousand readers, a thousand Hamlets. That, my friend, is the difference between you and me."
