In all those years, Flavia Cartwright had certainly entertained thoughts of escape. The simple, crushing truth was, she had nowhere to go.
Her identification and household registration were held by the Vance family.
Where could she possibly go?
She had tried to escape once, when she was nineteen.
But she was found by the Vance family in less than two hours.
That time, Flavia Cartwright was beaten so badly she was covered in bruises and had to lie in bed for over three months to recover.
Since then.
Flavia Cartwright never dared to run again. That escape attempt had left a deep scar on her psyche.
As she thought about it, tears streamed from the corners of Flavia Cartwright's eyes.
She hated that she was a girl!
She hated her misogynistic parents even more!
If...if there was a next life, she would never want to be a girl again.
In fact, death was not something she feared. It was a release.
This was good.
She would no longer have to wake up and face that monster, Quinton.
Just as Flavia Cartwright felt she couldn't hold on any longer--
Bang.
The door to the operating room was pushed open, and a figure rushed in from outside. He threw his arms around her, crying his heart out, "Flavia! Flavia! I don't want you to leave me! You will always be mine!"
It was Quinton. The familiar scent.
A wave of nausea washed over Flavia Cartwright. She felt like she was going to vomit. So disgusting!
Why, even in death, could she not escape Quinton's grasp? Why couldn't she ever be in control of her own life?
The more Quinton thought about it, the more resentful he became, clutching Flavia's body and refusing to let go.
He was still holding her when Dowager Vance arrived.
Dowager Vance's eyes were red as she said, "Quinton, Mom knows you can't bear to part with Flavia, but the dead cannot be brought back to life. Let her go, my dear boy, let her go! Mom promises you, I will help you marry Carey."
"In this lifetime, Carey can only be our family's daughter-in-law!"
Hearing Dowager Vance's words, Quinton reluctantly released Flavia Cartwright.
The Vance family did not give Flavia Cartwright a grand funeral.
They even concealed the news of her death from The Shadow.
They found a random place to bury her and told everyone that Flavia Cartwright had gone abroad to study.
Dowager Vance was a devout believer in God and extremely concerned with appearances. If people found out that Flavia Cartwright had died on an operating table from an abortion, what would become of the Vance family's reputation?
Besides, Flavia Cartwright had no relatives in this world. As long as the Vance family kept quiet, no one would ever find out that Flavia was dead.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
