THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 829

Now, they had even posted guards at Flavia's door. This confirmed that there was a secret surrounding Flavia, something they didn't want anyone to see.

The sight only strengthened Caitlin's resolve to see Flavia's face for herself. If the front was guarded, she would have to find a way in from the back.

"Madam, be careful."

Just as Caitlin was circling around to the rear of the building, Tina was helping Carey approach from another direction. Separated only by a row of hedges, the three of them nearly crossed paths.

After a few more steps, Carey suddenly stopped and looked back.

"Madam, what are you looking at?" Tina asked.

"It's strange, my heart is racing!" Carey said. "Did someone just walk past over there?"

The feeling was almost indescribable, as if her very soul was being tugged by an invisible string.

Tina glanced behind them but saw nothing.

She took Carey's arm. "There's no one there, Madam. You're probably just nervous. We should hurry before we're discovered."

"You're right." Carey nodded and quickened her pace.

This was the first time she had ever defied Dowager Vance, and she was indeed terrified. She couldn't imagine the storm she would face if she were caught. But even knowing the consequences, she had to see what was in the front hall.

Meanwhile, Caitlin had successfully entered Flavia Cartwright's room through a back window. The room's decor was consistent with the rest of the castle, nothing out of the ordinary. It was quiet, with the faint, natural scent of plum blossoms in the air.

Over at the party, Carey, under Tina's guidance, had made it to the ballroom. The hall was filled with people, a sea of clinking glasses and conversations. Keeping her head down, Carey weaved through the crowd. Fortunately, with so many guests, her presence went unnoticed.

"Madam, do you see anyone you know?" Tina asked.

Carey shook her head, her eyes filled with disappointment. "No one…"

Everyone here was a stranger. Utter strangers.

"How can that be?" Tina murmured. "Are you sure? Why would the Dowager lock you up if there's no one here you know?"

Carey sighed. "Maybe… maybe I was wrong. Perhaps the Dowager was just worried I would embarrass the family. We should go back."
