Caitlin looked at Celia, her expression serious. "She's my mother, Carey. The one who's been missing all these years."
Celia's eyes widened in disbelief. She never imagined Caitlin would find Carey so quickly, let alone at Vance Castle.
"Freya, are you serious?" Celia asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"I am," Caitlin said, shaking her head. "Just look at her."
With that, Caitlin gently removed the half-mask from Carey's face.
When Celia saw her, her jaw dropped. "She's identical!" Celia had seen photos of Carey before. She pressed a hand to her mouth. "She's absolutely identical!"
Only then did Celia truly believe it. It wasn't a joke.
Their persistence had paid off. Caitlin had finally found her mother.
Tears of joy welled up in Celia's eyes. She threw her arms around Caitlin. "Freya, congratulations!"
After being separated for so many years, Celia and Carey were finally reunited.
"Thank you." Caitlin replied.
Then a thought struck Celia. "So, is this why you suddenly wanted to come to Rosemary's birthday party?"
"Yes," Caitlin nodded. "At first, I wasn't sure my mother was at Vance Castle. I just came to test my luck."
To be honest, Caitlin was still reeling herself. The whole thing felt like a dream.
Celia frowned. "But why would your mother be at Vance Castle?"
"I don't know all the details yet. My mom has amnesia, and the Vance family gave her a new name."
A new name, a new identity. They had taken Carey from Eldermere all the way to Valerium, imprisoning her in that dreary castle.
She never, ever wanted to go back to that place.
"Didn't you say you've dreamed of the name Carey?" Caitlin said, taking her mother's hand. "Not only that, but you remembered me as Freya. Those are memories hidden in your subconscious. Mom, trust me. I will help you get your memory back as soon as possible!"
"Really?"
"Really," Caitlin affirmed with a nod. "Trust me. By the way, do you know how I found out you were at Vance Castle?"
Carey shook her head.
"It was because of those pastries," Caitlin explained. "Do you remember giving some pastries to Tina?"
"Yes, I do remember that," Carey nodded.
"When I tasted one of those pastries, I knew. I was almost certain you had to be the Flavia Cartwright the Vances were hiding. Because in your baking... I could taste the same flavor that only my grandma knows how to make."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
