THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 840

"Alright." Carey nodded.

As the three of them reached the top floor, Celeste rushed out to greet them. The moment she saw Carey, she felt a genuine happiness for Caitlin. "Carey, welcome back," she said warmly, handing Carey a bouquet of flowers.

Caitlin had texted Celeste from the car, and Celeste had immediately arranged for the flowers to be delivered.

"Thank you." Carey accepted the bouquet with a smile. "You must be March, right?"

"Yes, yes, that's me." Celeste beamed at Carey. "Carey, you and Catie look so much alike! And you're even more beautiful in person than in your photos."

Celeste wasn't just trying to flatter her; she was speaking the truth. Even in her forties, Carey was still stunning. The faint lines around her temples didn't detract from her beauty but rather added a layer of profound grace. For the first time, Celeste truly understood the power of genetics. It was no wonder Caitlin was so beautiful.

Without a second thought, Celeste familiarly linked her arm with Carey's. "Carey, let's not stand out here. Come on in."

Once inside, Celeste bustled about, making tea for Carey, while Celia immediately got on the phone, setting in motion an investigation into the events of twenty years ago.

Caitlin led Carey to the bathroom to get cleaned up and change. She was still wearing the costume of The Shadow. Celeste had already arranged for new clothes to be delivered—three outfits in total: two for daily wear and a set of pajamas.

About twenty minutes later, Carey emerged from the bathroom, refreshed.

Caitlin brought out a medical kit. "Mom, let me check your pulse."

Carey looked surprised. "Freya, you know medicine?"

Celeste, who had just returned with the tea, overheard and chimed in with a grin, "Carey, let me tell you, Catie is an amazing doctor. A real miracle worker!"

"Really?"

"Of course!" Celeste nodded enthusiastically.

Learning that her daughter was so accomplished filled Carey with joy, and a bright smile spread across her face.

Caitlin placed a small cushion on the table. Carey rolled up her sleeve and rested her wrist on it.

The moment Caitlin's fingers touched Carey's pulse point, her expression darkened. Carey's pulse was alarmingly weak and erratic, alternating between a strong beat and a faint one.

Seeing Caitlin's face grow grim, Celeste and Celia grew tense.

Dowager Vance was beginning to panic, her brow furrowed in a tight line. "Find her! Keep searching! I don't care if you have to tear this place apart, find that wench for me!"

Rosemary was just as anxious, pacing back and forth.

They had searched the entire castle. Where on earth could Carey have gone?

"Dowager! Dowager!"

Just then, the butler came running in, out of breath. "We've found her! We've found her!"

Dowager Vance shot up from her chair, a wave of relief washing over her. "Quickly! Bring that shameless tramp in here!"

Tonight, she would make Carey suffer a fate worse than death. She would make her beg for an end that would never come.

The butler's face was a mask of distress. He stammered, "Ma'am... she... she was taken away... by Miss Palmer and her friend, Miss Gonzales..."

"What?" The color drained from Dowager Vance's face. "What did you say?!"
