And that meant both Caitlin and Carey were doomed.
A triumphant glint appeared in Rosemary's eyes. "Mom, I'll contact Officer Audley right now!"
Audley was a high-ranking officer in the Royal Police.
Neither the Gonzales family nor the Richards family could interfere with his authority, not even the Palmers.
"No," Dowager Vance said, shaking her head. "You go and prepare a check. I will visit Officer Audley's home myself."
"Of course," Rosemary replied with a nod.
In no time, Rosemary returned with the check.
Dowager Vance took it. "I'll be back shortly. You wait for me here."
"I'll go with you."
Dowager Vance gave her a look. "Okay."
Dowager Vance and Rosemary hastily left Vance Castle.

Meanwhile, Stuart had booked the earliest available flight to Valerium. Keira was going with him. Lenora and Monday were at the entrance to see them off.
Monday seemed to sense what was happening, whining softly and nudging his head against Stuart's and Keira's hands.
*Whimper, whimper.*
His mommy had been gone for over a week.
Now his great-grandma and grandpa were leaving too!
This dog was going to be all alone!
Stuart patted Monday's head. "Monday, you be a good boy at home. Grandpa will be back with Grandma and Mommy soon."
"Woof!"
At Neon Spire, members of the Richards family were also en route to Valerium. Most of Hannah's sons were abroad; only the eldest, Warren, and the second eldest, Willis, were in Neon Spire. Thus, only five people departed from there: Hannah, her two eldest sons, and their wives. The others were flying in from different countries.
About eight hours after Stuart and Keira had left, around ten o'clock at night, Lenora received a call from her hometown. Her mother had fallen from a high place, was unconscious, and in critical condition.
Lenora was frantic. The doctor had said her mother might not pull through.
She had to take leave and go home immediately.
Lenora's first call was to Caitlin. It was seven o'clock in the morning in Valerium.
"Hello, Lenora? What's wrong?" Caitlin answered quickly.
Lenora's voice was thick with tears. "Miss Caitlin, something's happened to my mother. I have to go back right away. Can I leave Monday with Shera?"
Shera was the housekeeper who usually looked after Keira.
Caitlin thought for a moment. "Monday is a bit timid. A sudden change to Shera or someone else he doesn't know might stress him out. How about this: take him to that pet shop we always go to. I'll have a friend of mine pick him up."
"Okay, okay! I'll take him there right now."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
