THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 901

"Beatrice wouldn't care that Caitlin is divorced?"

Old Mrs. Somerset scoffed at Flossie's words.

"Flossie, darling, you're still young. You're oversimplifying things," Old Mrs. Somerset said, looking at her daughter. "Who do you think Beatrice is? And the Sylvesters? Forget the Sylvesters for a moment—even an ordinary wealthy family wouldn't tolerate something like this. And Beatrice is far from ordinary."

What mother doesn't want the absolute best for her son?

One way or another.

She was determined to get this information to Beatrice.

Flossie knew her mother's personality well enough to know arguing was pointless. She could only sigh in resignation. "If you've made up your mind, then do as you please."

As a daughter.

As a sister.

She'd said and done all she could.

In her mother's eyes, she was already out of the nest, an outsider.

She couldn't make this decision for her mother.

Old Mrs. Somerset smiled. "Flossie, you just wait. Beatrice is going to be thanking me for this!"

Now, all she had to do was find a way to "casually" bump into Beatrice.

At the Gonzales residence.

Stuart's morning routine was unfolding as usual. He was reading the paper while waiting for breakfast.

Just then, his phone chimed with a WhatsApp notification.

Stuart picked it up and opened the message.

It was from a business partner.

[Mr. Gonzales, congratulations!]

Congratulations?

Stuart was puzzled and typed back with one hand: [Congratulations for what?]

The partner replied quickly: [Haven't you seen the news, Mr. Gonzales?]

News?

Before Stuart could reply, another message came through: [You need to check what's trending on Twitter! Your daughter certainly knows how to make a splash without a sound!]

Make a splash without a sound?

"What has Freya gotten herself into now?" Stuart murmured with a smile.

He was just about to open Twitter.

Carey came downstairs.

"Stuart, what's so funny?"

Stuart put down his newspaper and waved her over. "Carey, come look at this."

Carey walked over quickly.

"What is it?"

Stuart showed her the WhatsApp conversation. "Look what my associate sent me. He says our Freya has made some big splash and is congratulating me! Sounds like she's accomplished something new."

Carey nodded, urging him, "Well, open Twitter and let's see."

Stuart opened the app.

And there it was.

The top trending topic was: *Master Ninth and Miss Gonzales—Relationship Revealed.*

Seeing the headline, Stuart let out a light laugh. "The things people will make up for clicks these days. Absolutely no shame! Our Freya is still just a kid. How could she possibly be dating?"

There were so many eligible bachelors in The Capital.

And if not here, then certainly in Neon Spire or Valerium!

Why did she have to pick Gordon of all people?

The very thought of Gordon's penny-pinching ways made Keira's head throb.

Stuart finally managed to breathe again. He turned to Keira, taking a deep breath. "Mom, let's not jump to conclusions! It has to be fake. With AI these days, it's probably just a couple of doctored photos."

"Exactly," Carey chimed in, recovering. "It's probably just a misunderstanding, Mom."

Keira walked over and sat at the table. "But they don't look fake to me. Carey, why don't you go upstairs and ask Freya yourself?"

"Right," Stuart nodded. "Carey, it's not really my place as her father to ask. You should go."

Carey hesitated. "But… what if it's true?"

Silence fell over the room once more.

Stuart ran a hand through his hair. "She can't be dating already!"

In the life plan Stuart had envisioned for his daughter, she wouldn't even start dating until she was twenty-five. They'd get to know each other for a few years, and then maybe, *maybe*, think about marriage around thirty.

But she was only twenty!

Keira sighed. "Even if she is dating, why a cheapskate? I wonder how long this has been going on."

Carey looked confused. "Is Gordon really that frugal?"

Keira nodded grimly. "Extremely. He's never been in a relationship because he can't bear to spend money. I'd bet anything our Freya has been paying for everything."

Hearing that, Carey and Stuart's moods soured even further.

"How could our Freya fall for someone like that?" Stuart asked, baffled.

Keira narrowed her eyes. "I think she's like me—a sucker for a pretty face. She must have been dazzled by his looks! I fell for your father's handsome face, too, but at least he wasn't a cheapskate!"
